I remember walking uphill along the park fence in April and smelling the crabapple blossoms before I even reached them. Yesterday walking in the same place I could smell the apple smell of the fruit before I reached those trees. Seasons turning. I’m grateful for bees who did the work.

Knowing that I’ll almost certainly be gone from here by the end of the year and won’t have this park to walk in anymore helped me appreciate this morning’s walk even more.
I stopped by the orchard this morning to see the apples before they’re ready.
I got sentimental this morning thinking that I’ve probably seen this covered with snow for the last time. Or with the cherries and apples in bloom.

A short video of two egrets. At the ten second mark, a duck on the left flaps its wings and then the egrets plunge their beaks in the water, one after the other.
What a beautiful, peaceful morning it was.
I don’t know why the videos come out looking so much more pastel than the pictures.
