Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

farewell, group!

hey friends - just figured I'd make one final post in this community to say thank you to everyone for a fun ride, our 2015 project to find new ways to make friends on livejournal has come to a close! As promised I am keeping it to 2015.

If you're still looking for friends, I would recommend:

Ten Ways To Make Livejournal New Again, my post about everything I learned in my 2015 resolution to refresh my friends list.

add_me, add me spinoff communities, and other friending communities.

thefridayfive, a question community that's better for those of us who like updating our own journals.

And in general, maintain the attitude that this community was all about, the philosophy that...

1) A website doesn't have to be THE newest, hottest, talked about platform to be enjoyable.

2) In fact sometimes it's better if it's NOT the newest hottest thing - the people you find at "the next facebook!" are probably just there because it's a trend, not because they've invested in it, and certainly not because they've got anything in common with you.

3) If you're going to invest time and energy in making friends, why not pick a community you already know and love?

4) On any website, friends you know and love will come and go. So if you like the platform, keep friending people, forever, forever! It'll pay off and you'll keep loving it.

ciao,

Who are you?
My name's Devin. I'm 21 years old, from PA. I'm transgender. I identify as male. I'm legally blind from retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) as a result of being born 3 months early.
What do you like about livejournal?
I've been on livejournal since April 2008 and I have lots of memories spending time on livejournal and meeting new friends in the process. I love how you can express yourself on livejournal.
Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
My journal is mainly friends only.
How often do you update your livejournal?
It varies. Sometimes I'll update a couple times a day. Sometimes daily. Usually a couple times a week.
How often do you check your friends feed?
Almost every day. Or every time I update.
What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Honestly, nothing really comes to mind. I guess getting back into music, going to shows, playing bass guitar, and skateboarding.
What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'm not sure. Hopefully I'll get a part time retail job. I applied to two different places.
What do you like to write about?
Posts about my days or shows I went to. Sometimes, I'll post open honest entries about my struggles with bipolar disorder type 2, self harm, and anorexia.
Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
not really. But I'm obessed with music, bands, going to shows, art, photography, coffee, hoodies, band merch, playing bass guitar, watching videos on youtube, and skating.

Pray For Plagues- Bring Me The Horizon
fly superhero

I do chicken tamales.

Who are you? I be a 40 year old registered nurse in the Pacific Northwest named Aubrey. I sign everything around the office as Aubs, RN. I'm a new nurse out in the world, and a retired rock star, if you will.

What do you like about livejournal? I've been a part of LJ since Feb 2001 and during this time have met some really freaking phenomenal people who have become important parts of my life. I have had my life literally change for the better because of the wonderful beings I found here. Although the majority of them have left for things like Faceypages and Insti-grams, I still hope to create new and lasting friendships again. I also like that LJ allows me to explore my thoughts and feelings on things and isn't as... exposed... as FB or other places - e.g. my coworkers and extended family don't live here.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both? Once upon a time, I was 100% public. Alas, spam bots became more frequent and I grew up a bit, I guess (oh, my 2001 self!), and don't feel that my every thought and biological function needs to be known by the entire world... just those here :)

How often do you update your livejournal? The longest I spent away from LJ was during my jaunt through nursing school which, in retrospect, I wish I would have been so much more active, as it was a really tremendous time in my life. I may disappear for a day or two as I work 13-17 hour shifts for two days in a row, but it's a good place to vent... especially since I work overnights and there isn't really much to do on my days off.

How often do you check your friends feed? All days off. My work "week", I literally come home from work, shower, face plant on my pillow, and get up and repeat.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months? I graduated from nursing school June 2014, passed my state exam in July 2014, and started on my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in August 2014. I powered through the majority of that and landed my first job June 2015 at a rehab facility. Basically, it's a short term hop when patients are too well to be in the hospital but not well enough to be released to home or to a long term care facility.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015? I think I will end up doing some exploring for what type of nurse I want to be. I may explore some other avenues, such as wound care or administration type things. Overall, I think it's going to be a time where I just go through a New Nurse Hazing Period. They say that nurses feel completely inadequate and horrible for their first year, so here we go!

What do you like to write about? A lot of my entries lately have been about work work work. I have spent the last 2.5 months going from an unemployed college student to an extremely physically active job, so it was pretty all-encompassing, since days off would just be recuperating before going back to do it again. Now that I'm getting physically (and somewhat mentally) used to it, my entries are branching out a bit then. For the most part, it's sort of limited to what I encounter being up while the world sleeps, which... either involves going to the gym and watching a crap ton of Netflix, with a smattering of various MMOs.

Quirky obsessions or extremist views? I'm pretty laid back when it comes to my views, as long as you're respectful. Occasionally, I will hit a bump where I'm SUPER OBSESSED with one random nerdy thing for like a month, then I'll leave it alone. I also have a crappy attention span so I never obsess for long. Past obsessions include Marvel Cinematic Universe, Final Fantasy, Doctor Who, Invader Zim, various obscure bands, and a boy crush. If you find yourself annoyed by a topic I won't let drop, please be patient, I'll drop it eventually!

Other stuff? The titles for my entries come from whatever I have streaming on my 2nd monitor at time of posting. I tend to discover things waaaay after they're gone (right now, I'm watching 30 Rock and Fringe for the first time), and for some reason, cooking competition shows are the thing my brain likes to have going on in the background when I'm preparing to get ready for bed.

Aiight, it's after 10 am, which means I'm up past my bed time! See you on the flip side!

Hello, hello!

Who are you? I'm Nia! It's not my real name, but a name I go by. I work full-time at a department store. I don't really like my job, but job = money, money = I can pay my bills. I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do in the future, but it's between web design and interior design. I just turned 26, but I don't act it unless I need to be serious. Life is too short to be serious too much. I'm becoming more optimistic despite having pretty bad problems with depression and anxiety for years. I still have problems with it, yes, but I no longer let it define me, nor do I let it rule me or my future

What do you like about livejournal?
Making friends who I can keep a real friendship with, writing about whatever is on my mind, hobby-wise or life-wise and the icon/writing comms to participate in.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
Friends only, there are very few public posts where I post about friending memes I run. That's about it. I always welcome new friends into my locked journal though.

How often do you update your livejournal?
Twice or more a week, depending on what I feel like talking about.

How often do you check your friends feed?
More than once a day, unless I'm busy. If I'm busy, it's once a day.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
> We found a decent rental to live in, that was recently remodeled. It looks fabulous.
> In wake of recent events, I'm now closer to my Lord, Jesus (I am religious, I will talk about it below)
> I lived another day! (It's those little things you have to appreciate!)

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'm not sure! I'd hope to find a decent job where I'm not so stressed out all the time. I want to lead a more active lifestyle.

What do you like to write about?
Anything and everything. I write about my life, my fandoms, interests, gaming, tv shows, graphics/jewelry I make and any article/video I find interesting. Oh and I draw and write too!

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
As for quirky obsessions, I loooooove crime shows (my favorites are NCIS - I love LA too -, Law and Order: SVU, Psych and CSI/CSI: New York), but I also love the medieval genre too (SKYRIMMMM, Elder Scrolls Online, and the Dragon Age series) and the sci-fi, as well (All Star Trek series, the Mass Effect series and Doctor Who)

Now as for "extremist views", I will be completely honest...I am a bit extreme. I'm Pro-life. I'm a conservative feminist; I don't believe in sexually objectifying women (or men and children). I'm LGBT friendly. I believe this phobia and hate against them needs to stop. They are people just like me and you. Abuse, bullying or discrimination is a no-no for me too. It's disgusting and should not happen. And lastly, I am a Christian, but I definitely respect other religions and I'm not the type to preach to you or shove it down your throat.

But really, Skyrim should be a quirky obsession all of it's own. I've put more than 3,000 hours on it between my PC and Xbox 360. Back when I was having some pretty bad problems with depression, it was an outlet. I played it to escape the sad feelings and negativity that my mind produced so it's really dear to me.

Long time user looking for new friends

Who are you?
Hi, I'm Henry. I'm a 33 year old, married scientist from New Jersey. I'm interested in the standard things like gaming (video, card, and board), science fiction, fantasy, sports, movies, music, and books. In addition to science, I was somewhat formally trained in political science (college minor) and philosophy (could have easily been another minor). People at work identify me with books, mainly because I'd rather read than make small talk at lunch. And even though I've worked here for ten years, I doubt my coworkers know me that well. At my wedding, the recurring themes from speeches were that I was a "good person" and a "total dork". But those descriptors were given by my friends and family, so take that as you will.

What do you like about livejournal?
I like that your entries are not heavily limited. That refers to both length of entries and formatting. I also like the idea of communities, although its hard to find the right ones.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
Pretty much totally public. I may have a friends only post once in a decade, if even that.

How often do you update your livejournal?
It's pretty sporadic but based on my previous several months, its about four or five times a month.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Several times a day on most weekdays. It increases or decreases by the amount of work I have.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Mainly travel events since the wife and I take pretty decent vacations. And life in general since I'm pretty happy with my general life situation.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
June-July: Kitchen remodeling
October: NY Comic Con (so costume preparation for the summer)
November: Friend's wedding in Vegas + potential road trip to explore America
December: Holidays and break from work

What do you like to write about?
The vast majority of my entries are about books, movies, or travel. After I finish a book, I'll typically write an entry. After a see a movie of note, I may write an entry. Typically, after a vacation, I'll make a series of posts (with pictures!) about the vacation.

Additionally, I'll randomly make posts about news stories of interest, life in general, or television. Ocassionally, I'll also post surveys (both one shot or 30 day ones) if I find good ones.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
I'm pretty strong in many of my views. Its okay if you don't agree with me, but I like to discuss them and debate. I identify as a Republican even though I'm quite socially liberal. Its mainly because I'm fiscally conservative and a Realist (political term). But I also am a feminist (although I often get annoyed by crazy feminists) and an atheist (I also get annoyed at crazy Atheists).

anything else we should know?
If we have differing views, I'll probably challenge your view. But its not a personal attack, I just like to discuss and debate given the opportunity. And I'll probably come off as harsh.

But overall, I'm a friendly guy =)

Who are you?
I'm a queer, genderfree, trans, poly (relationship anarchist), fat-&-proud, honest, open, social justice worker, tree-hugger (literally & figuratively), eclectic pagan Quaker, and art catalyst, with ADD-PI. I'm white, usually read as cisgender, college-educated, and non-disabled, and I'm open to people checking me on my privilege. I believe in justice, spirit, magic, critical analysis, mindful touch, asking, bold emotion, creating/living art, colors, nudity, giving, self-love, & Georgia.

What do you like about livejournal?
meaningful sharing that can happen whenever I have the time and energy? that is the best. All of my closest and best relationships have come from LJ in one way or another.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
almost all public - I occasionally lock things that are about work or friends who want privacy.

How often do you update your livejournal?
it varies -- I aim for daily and lately I end up with about 3 times a week.

How often do you check your friends feed?
it varies -- I aim for daily but usually end up going on a five-hour readathon once a week (I read very fast).

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
building my friendships to the best levels I have ever experienced.
finally getting medicated for ADD.
doing an art show! selling some of my fractal art!

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'll graduate, at long last.

What do you like to write about?
happenings with emotional significance and why they matter, social justice, dreams, relationships, skill-sharing, analysing patterns in myself or society or relationships, polls, my spirituality and how I invest in it, things I've recently learned, my core values and progress toward goals based on them.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
Well, the number one thing that makes me unfriend people is use of slurs. So if you're okay with saying that someone was b*tching about their st*pid day with all its cr*zy experiences, we're not likely to get along. If you don't get why that is a problem, here's where I explain: slurs are still very harmful when they are aimed at a situation/action/thing instead of a person / TW: slurs and we can't be friends if you use slurs because it damages me & breaks my trust in you / TW: slurs and slurs are both harmful and not expressive: say what you actually mean instead / TW: slurs.

hello all!

Who are you?
Gabrielle. 21. Canadian. Depression & anxiety. Comedy.
Future goal: get into medical school
Current goal: get out of bed before noon

What do you like about livejournal?
I like meeting new people and exchanging thoughts and ideas. I've also never been able to keep a journal for more than a week, but I have a good feeling about this place.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
It's totally public! I think.

How often do you update your livejournal?
So far, every day. I'd like to keep it that way.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Every day! I wanna know what you guys are up to.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Good things? My cousin Ashley moved in with me. And we like her, so that's good. Also I adopted a kitten and named him Noodle, he is my little fluff, my tiny son.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
Hopefully I'd like to get a better handle on my mental and physical health so that I can get my undergrad. I'm supposed to be getting my BSc in biomedical biology this year, but I fucked up and I'm really only half way there. I'd like to get back to school in September.

What do you like to write about?
My life, general ramblings, weird dreams, boys, my struggles with depression, anxiety, addiction, abuse, and getting my ass off the couch.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
I won't put any trigger warnings on my journal, so be careful. If I post in a community I will.
Also, have you every really thought about whirlpools? I mean really thought about them? How crazy is it that those are real?

anything else we should know?
Did you know that king crab fishing is one of the most dangerous professions in the world? Statistically, at least 1 fisherman dies a week. Isn't that nuts? I mean, who thinks crab meat is worth human lives? Not that I wouldn't eat crab if someone offered. That shit's tasty. What was I talking about? Oh, right. I like random facts and useless knowledge.
