<b>6. What are your reasons for altering weight? my body feels better at 145-150 than it does right now.  I've gained a lot of weight in part d/t illness that has prevented me from being able to work out these last 10 months.  It's time to get active again, and not allow my wt gain to get out of hand.  (used to be 60lbs heavier than I am now and have kept that off for 7 years.)
<b>7. How do you think you will feel at your goal weight? relieved, great, more comfortable in my body
How would your life change? I'll feel more comfortable and self confident
<b>8. How you will celebrate maintaining your goal I haven't really thought about celebrating maintaining my goal.... I've been "maintaining" for the last 7 years and I don't really see this weight gain as too much of a diversion from that.  I'll have to think about that one...  Maybe by going on extended bike trips?  I'm super excited about my battery powered pedal assist bicycle that will allow me to bike  without having to worry about my physical limitations!

crazy virtual cheerleader/mutual support idea...

Motivation.

Stoked up with enough of that magic ingredient, it should be possible to achieve just about anything. But it's all too easy to get distracted/discouraged given: (a) the demands of daily life and general 'busyness and, (b) the fact there's more to life than obsessing over weight.

So in this crazy wired-up world  I'm on the lookout for some mutual cheerleading action from like-minded souls who need the occasional prod to stay on track and who can get fired-up by shared challenges...

Hi there...

I'm new to this group. I'm looking to lose weight, so I looked for groups on LJ and I found you guys. I was always chunky, but lately I have been gaining more and more weight and I'm starting to feel out of control. I am currently 165lbs with only being 5"1', not exactly healthy. Not only do I want to slim down, but I also want to get healthier and eat healthier. I am an absolute chocoholic. I can't stay away from the stuff. That and bagels. Which is probably my problem. I went onto FitDay and I'm doing the online journal thingy. I was actually surprised at the amout of calories I'm bringing in. (But they are not the best calories).

I have amazing support at home. My entire family and my boyfriend are behind me. But hearing it from them is easy, especially when they are not struggling with the same problem. I really started to watch what I'm eating, and I'm eating a lot more fruit then I used to. I want to do tae-bo, I have the Billy Blanks Bootcamp tapes, but it's hard to find the time. I have no time in the morning, so I try to do it when I get home from work, but that is tough because my parents will always interupt me for something. I'm going on this Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover diet next week. You eat six small meals every day.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I could do? I want to get down to atleast 125/130 by Christmas, but my goal is 115 by Christmas.

Thanks.

Jennifer.

Looking for a new fitness program? How about trying the Presidential Fitness Challenge. This challenge comes in three varieties:

1. The Active Lifestyle Program - For those of you who aren't active on a daily basis yet, this is a great way to begin. The rules are basically to get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week, for a total of 6 weeks.

2. The Presidential Champions Program - If you're already active and want a new challenge, this program is for you. Your goal is to see how many points you can earn by staying active. Points are based on the amount of energy each activity burns. So the more active you are, the more points you'll get. When you reach 20,000 points, you'll earn a Bronze award. Then you can continue on in the Presidential Champions program for a Silver or Gold award.

3. The Advanced Performance Presidential Champions Program - This is basically the same system as the Presidential Champions Program, except that the award goals are higher. For instance, you need to get 40,000 points to earn a Bronze award.

The Presidential Champions Fitness Program Website (where you can log your progress and also order your awards when you've reached your goal)

Also, if you want, come join the LJ pres_challenge community to chat with others who are challenging themselves with this program.

Back on track? Hardly...But trying.

I've been neglecting my FitDay Journal (and my body) for the past 1/2 year. Why? Because I've been grieving over the death of my dog. It's a sorry excuse, but I need something to blame and that event seems to easiest target -- you know how it goes, you try to fill a void that has been left by the death of a loved one.

So I am trying to start getting back into my FitDay Journal again. The problem I have is trying to add foods that aren't on the list. It's tedious having to look things up just to have the calorie count. Today I've skipped that part and just wrote down what I've eaten in the "journal" area of the FitDay profile. Maybe tomorrow I'll be less lazy and a bit more thorough.

Hope everyone in this community is having a more successful time in keeping on top of things!
