Help Haiti fan auction

There was an earthquake and it wasn't pretty. And so, fen, doing what fen so often do, decided that a fanworks auction (help_haiti) was the thing to do. I can only do so much to help with my own pocket book, so I'm hoping to encourage someone else to donate as well.

[My link at the help-haiti comm]

I'm offering up a rec set to prompter's specifications! Anything you want, I will answer to the best of my ability! This is a great way to, for example, ask me for zombie fics *shudders*. Or really, anything else you think I wouldn't normally do. Or! You can ask for something that I might already do but this way you will ensure that I do that rec list next! I imagine the bidding for me is going to be less than fierce, so why not donate something small and watch me dance to your bidding. *Dance, puppet, dance!* :)

And you might be saying, but Fish, you are busy? To which I reply: Yes, yes I am. That's why I specifically state that it will take however long it takes.

As a side-note, I'm not going to join in amplirecathon this time around (unless that's the wishes of whoever wins the bid) because even though I have a list of a handful of podfics I wish to rec, I don't have any of the actual recs written up.

crossposted to fish-recs (slightly modified) as it seems relevant to their interests as well.

BETTINA'S FANDOM! AKA I went crazy and made a comm

So remember my constant mentioning of only the best cookery book ever*?

At the suggestion of suzy_queue over at the yuletide brainstorming post, I've created a comm for Bettina's fandom. I've called it, ever so excitingly, bettinas_fandom. I stuck it on LJ since of the four people who I know that have expressed interest, three of them are based in LJ land. Sigh. DW, your time is coming!

So! Pimp this comm out! Come play! You know you want to! :D

Traffic is likely to be light as the fandom is incredibly small, but the hilarity factor is likely to be high, so, eh.

I think that was all I had to say? Oh well, even if it wasn't, I'm off to the land of nod.

ETA: So, anyone have any advice for running a comm and not having it turn into a mess? And if you don't, do you at least know where I could go for advice? (Not really that I'm expecting problems, but I do know that a good mod helps things run smoothly. And I am an utter novice.) Now back to bed.

oh hai

Oh hai internets, glad to see you aren't exploded. :) Hope everyone is well?

I'm back from holiday, it was fun and I even got a chance to relax a bit :) But now of course I have to deal with all the stuff that I didn't do before I left and that cropped up whilst I was away. ::sigh:: so goes life.

I also got bit by a few plot bunnies and due to winkingstar in specific and fandom's welcoming atmosphere in general (fandom: hey, the first hit is free... innocent little fish: ....well, just one can't hurt, right?), I think I'll actually attempt to work on them when I've got time in and amidst the rest of my to-do list... ::facepalm:: I guess if I suck utterly then I could always print it out, overwrite the file repeatedly, burn the print-outs, and scatter their ashes. Ummm, despite all this talk I'm actually cautiously pleased to try my hand at actually telling a story. I dunno how well it will go, or how long it will take, or if my initial enthusiasm will be enough to carry me through, but I think I'll enjoy giving it a try. :)

::pauses while attempting to remember what else I was going to say:: Oh right! So, I actually got through some of my offline reading, 'twas good. I managed to delete or move or loose or something the file where I'd written up most of my comments. Fail. So, to all those authors (very few, if any, of whom read this), sorry! And commenting is on my to-do list! And to everyone (ditto previous parenthetical statement) whose story I didn't get to, or who wrote nifty things whilst I was ignoring LJ, I'll catch up when I can! I'm afraid to look at my friends list, I'm sure it is long...

OK, in my head this entry was less whiny than it ended up being. Sorry about that, please chalk it up to post-vacation angst. So I'll try to end on a happy note: I've got fresh fruit and veg in the kitchen and am going to enjoy cooking tomorrow! Share a happy thing?
