Arago may be derived from Aragon, an autonomous community in Spain that is coextensive with the medieval Kingdom of Aragon. The Crown of Aragon historically covered a wider area than modern Aragon, including the Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Sicily, and much of Southern Italy.
