Tonko: Ni is a Ninjutsu spell in Final Fantasy XI. It is an upgraded version of the Tonko: Ichi ninjustu.
It is learned by the Ninja (level 34). When used, the spell will consume one Shinobi-tabi to grant the Invisible status on the caster, preventing enemies from detecting them by sight. It does not prevent enemies with True Sight from seeing the player, nor does it prevent aggro from monsters that detect by sound.
Etymology
In Japanese, tonko" (遁甲) can be roughly translated as "evasive armor". The name of the tool used by this spell, shinobi-tabi, can be translated as "ninja-socks".
Tabi are traditional Japanese socks. Ankle high and with a separation between the big toe and other toes, they are worn by both men and women with zori, geta, and other traditional thonged footwear.
