ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to a lack of submissions, the deadline for the first issue has been extended. What we want is good writing done quickly. If you want the chance to be part of fandom history, get your submission to fatladydigest [at] gmail.com as soon as possible.

Submissions relating to pre-HBP fandom and canon will be accepted (as will post-HBP fandom and canon).

We all hope you're enjoying the recent book (and getting lots more story ideas!)

First point of business: due to our sunny dispositions and our realisation of the strange way time works in fandom, we are extending the deadline for the Draco/Muggles and Purebloods issue. This means you now have until the 13th of July to submit to us. (Remember, it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect - we have trained editors ready and willing to work with you on your piece, but the earlier you get it in the better.) This extended deadline means our production dates will change, so stay tuned for that.

A few things we'd like to take the opportunity to highlight:
- We've set out deadline before HBP comes out for a reason - this is your chance for one final bit of speculation before new canon comes crashing in!
- Please note that new material only is suitable for submitting to the 'zine. We want the zine to contain material that isn't published elsewhere, which includes LJ, ff.net and personal archives.
- While we're not evil fire-breathing dragons (well, most of us...), we would like to request that everyone do their best to follow the submission guidelines available on our website. The blind-vetting procedure is in place to ensure fairness for you and us..

The Fat Lady Digest is looking for submissions for its very first issue! We want to see what you have to say about Muggles and Purebloods, about power and its corruption, about class based on bloodlines and race, about a magical world faced with extremists. We want to hear about Draco Malfoy: his birth, his upbringing; his loves, his hates; his future, present and past. Essays, stories, flash fiction, poetry and fan art exploring any or all of these themes are all welcome.

The Fat Lady Digest is open for business and looking for submissions!

Inspired by the success of the LOTRPS zine Lotripping, we are establishing a quarterly hardcopy HP fandom zine containing fiction, essays and art focussed on specific themes and characters.

We plan for each issue to have at least one essay on the theme, approximately ten stories exploring either the theme or the spotlight character (or both!), flash fiction and poetry and fan art in black and white or greyscale.

Issue One is entitled Muggles and Purebloods: race, class and power and our spotlight character is Draco Malfoy. Feel inspired yet?
