The Temperance Union is a faction in New Reno in Fallout 2.
Background[edit]
The New Reno Temperance Union is an organization advocating for the prohibition of intoxicating beverages. The group argues that alcohol consumption, including occasional use, leads to moral decline. Despite this, alcohol remains a significant source of vice and profit in New Reno, limiting the Union's influence.
According to Ethyl Wright, the Union was co-founded by herself and the local priest, Father Tully. Ethyl convinced her husband, Orville Wright, who is New Reno's primary liquor supplier, to stop alcohol production and dismantle the family stills. However, the Union failed to gain significant support, and most New Reno residents are reportedly unaware of its existence.
The Union's membership was limited to two individuals: Ethyl Wright and Father Tully. Ethyl reportedly did not acknowledge Tully's frequent alcohol consumption.
Orville Wright’s promise to dismantle the family stills was not upheld in practice; while the stills were dismantled, they were subsequently reassembled below a nearby train station. The Wright family continues to generate most of its income through the production and sale of various alcoholic beverages.
