Seth McCaughey

Seth McCaughey is a developer who worked at Obsidian Entertainment on Fallout: New Vegas and its DLCs as an animator.[1]

Career[edit]

Fallout Series[edit]

McCaughey worked on almost all of the first-person weapon animations for the base game. Looping reloads for weapons was a significant challenge for the team that they worked on for a long time.[2] He also created the Gojira hidden in the game's files, as a fun way to terrorize Camp McCarran during the game's development.[Dev 1][Dev 2]

McCaughey also worked on the game's add-ons: for Honest Hearts, he created Joshua Graham's gun reloading animation; for Old World Blues, he did the animations for the Think Tanks; and for Lonesome Road, he did all the animations for ED-E and brainstormed the Shoulder Mounted Machine Gun.[Dev 2][Dev 3]

Joshua Sawyer: "We had a number of people that worked on first-person anims for the game. Seth McCaughey worked on... Seth did almost all the first-person weapon anims. The biggest issues that we really had were with looping reloads, looping reloads were very weirdly buggy for a long time. It took a long, long time to get them working properly."

That looked awesome and was pretty impressive, a lot of games don't have hand animations that good."Sawyer: "Seth McCaughey. I brought in my (unloaded, in case it needs to be said) Colt and went through the process with him, then he went buck wild. Seth did a lot of the weapon reload animations in F:NV and the DLCs. He also came up with the idea of the SMMG in Lonesome Road and was the creator of the hidden Gojira."(Fallout: New Vegas Developer Statements - Characters; Joshua Sawyer: Graham's Pistol Animation, 2012 June 27)
