Legendary Core

Legendary Cores were a form of currency and miscellaneous items in Fallout 76, introduced in the Steel Reign update. They were removed from the game with Patch 1.7.14.15 as part of the Milepost Zero update, with any unused cores converted to Legendary Scrip in a 1:1 ratio.

Gameplay[edit]

Resembling a Fusion Core, Legendary cores were used to add Legendary effects onto non-Legendary Weapons, Armor, and Power Armor at the appropriate crafting workbench. Additionally, they could be used to reroll pre-existing effects of a Legendary item, removing any already existing effects on the item

Locations[edit]

Legendary Cores were obtainable by completing public events, seasonal events or Daily Ops. Additionally, they could also be redeemed as scoreboard rewards. Double Mutation Weekend events for Daily Ops awarded double the Legendary cores.

Behind the Scenes[edit]

  • Legendary Cores were initially introduced as three items - 1-star, 2-star and 3-star cores. Due to oversights and the overall complexity, this was replaced in favor of a single currency system early in the Steel Reign PTS cycle.
  • As a result, there are unused files for 2-star, 3-star and 4-star cores - each adding an additional star and progressively becoming more polished.
