Jeff Husges is a developer who worked at Obsidian Entertainment on Fallout: New Vegas as a designer. Previously, he worked on Van Buren.
Biography[edit]
Husges was raised in Newbury Park in Ventura County, California. He graduated from UCLA in 1998, and cancelled going to law school to do QA at Interplay.[Dev 1]
Career[edit]
Initially, Husges was a QA tester, but eventually he became a junior designer on Baldur's Gate III (Jefferson), and then Van Buren.[Dev 1] He later joined Obsidian in 2005.[Ext 1]
Fallout Series[edit]
- Van Buren
For Van Buren, he was the author of the Blackfoot Tribe, Mesa Verde and Jericho Design Documents.
- Fallout New Vegas
Husges is credited as an area designer on Fallout: New Vegas and its DLCs.[1]
According to J.E. Sawyer, Husges was responsible for writing dialogue for most of Jacobstown, the Enclave Remnants, and "a ton of minor characters all over the place" including Boulder City, many Legion characters and Rex's quest.[Dev 2] He was also responsible for much of Westside's content.[Dev 3]
The concept for Quarry Junction came from project director Joshua Sawyer, though it was fully designed and implemented by Jeff Husges.[2] He also wrote the quest The White Wash.[Dev 4] and Marcus, basing the character's speech pattern on his appearance in Fallout 2.[Dev 5]
Additionally, Husges worked on The Fort, Sloan, Goodsprings, and the NCR Sharecropper Farms.[Ext 2]

- ↑ Joshua Sawyer:"Writing duties are split up among designers. Not all designers write, but the majority of us do. Some do a larger share than others. I'll miss some here, but notably:
Jeff Husges - Most of Jacobstown, the Remnants, a ton of minor characters all over the place (including Boulder City, many Legion characters and Rex's quest)"

I think many players overlook it but its diversity and resourcefulness are especially striking when compared to a more emphasized area like Freeside. Whoever the world builder was did well too"
Joshua Sawyer: "Thanks. Most of the content of Westside was developed by Jeff Husges, though I wrote a few of the characters (Anderson, Meansonofabitch), John Gonzalez wrote some (maybe all?) of the characters in Casa Madrid, and Jorge Salgado developed the Thorn. Scott Everts did most of the world building. Because Westside is "detached" from the Strip and doesn't have any protector groups like the Kings, we wanted to portray them as being very resourceful and community-oriented, sharing a lot of responsibilities, including defense.
(Fallout: New Vegas Developer Statements; Joshua Sawyer Formspring posts, 11 September 2011) - ↑ "I really like "The White Wash" quest. It was really well done and left with a moral dilemma that still screws over someone (The NCR, who's approaching a food shortage or Westside, who're trying to be self-sufficient). Can you give props to who wrote it?"
Joshua Sawyer:"Thanks. Jeff Husges and I created The White Wash. I like how the dilemma played out, but the mechanics/flow of the quest were not that great (my fault, not Jeff's)."
