@Guerreroast: I knew about the women's subsection but did't know the American project existed. My updates are random articles I come across, but are usually U.S. related. Savile Club

Thanks for your work on sourcing and organising the notable members section. I've created a draft at Draft:List of Savile Club members with a view to splitting the membership list out per WP:SPLITLIST: the section here would be trimmed to the twenty or so most widely known members, with the comprehensive list living on the standalone page. If you think this is worthwhile, please do review/approve the draft and we can migrate the content across. SaffronElectic (talk) 07:18, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

It is worthwhile, but not until there are more sources. My process is usually to get the notables list ready or closer to being ready before moving it to a stand alone article simply because there are those who will immediately flag an article for AfD if it does not meet the guidelines for an article. I also don't agree with creating a new article that is poorly sourced. As you have noticed, the notables list only had 2 or 3 sources and also lacked a source that would support notability for the list article. I started working on finding sources for the list, and I think I have found sources to support notability of a standalone list article, while also adding more names in the process. The club manual from 1868 to 1925 is in Google Books and will comfirm many more. Others may be confirmed in obituaries. However, any names that cannot be confirmed with a source need to be removed. If the list still has around 50 names after this process, then it will be ready to split off. 50 isn't a rule in MOS, just a general guideline created by several WikiProjects that I work with. Just realized that you created your draft prior to my work. That is a shame as merging the lists will be a bit of a pain. The big difference is that I organized using the "normal" heading for notables, have expanded the list quite a bit, and added sources. Of course, your list has notability included. When splitting off to a list article, you don't usually create a draft. For copyright purposes, the typical process if to move the content to its new page and save, crediting the original article. Then, remove the content from the original article and acknowledging the move in to the new article. Once copyright is addressed, you can expanded the lead and add new content to the new article. A draft is not needed because the text already exists--and was created by others (or yourself). Does that make sense? It migth make sens continue adding sources in the current article, then overwrite the draft. Need to think on it a bit. Is it more a pain to move sources and fix the sections again, or to add the notability again? Hmmm. Rublamb (talk) 07:48, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

What's annoying is that I have in front of me the transcribed database of all members which is drawn from the member books in the Savile Club in their archive, but is not publicly available (it might be on request to the club). With organizations, we usually don't use member-only sources for reasons of privacy (especially for living people). So books are fine, but the non-public transcribed database would not be. I would love some help. The first history is online, but you can still work from it or any other edition you have access to. I am into names beginning with "R" in Who's Who. This is a rare example where almost every member of the Savile Club listed in that book has a Wikipedia article. There were something like 380 members listed, so that has increased the list and also given it a lot of entries with secondary sources. I went with lower case on List of Alpha Omega Alpha members because the case was all over the place in the list, as it is again now. I just wanted it to have a standardized form throughout; I would have been happy to add those initial caps. The majority of the article had upper case at the start of notability, which is the norm for lists of notables. Since you only changed some, but not all, to lower case, it was not a an improvement. Right after reverting your edits, I actually went through and fixed the lower case entries, so the list is, in fact, not "all over the place".
