About

SaffronElectic is an amateur historian with a particular interest in the clubs of Victorian London — their membership, their politics, and the way the same circle of "clubbable" men moved between the Savile Club, the Century Club, the Radical Club, the Athenaeum and the dining societies around them.

My research draws on club membership records, privately printed club histories, and manuscript collections such as the Dilke Papers in the British Library.
