This is the second event of the series, following the inaugural event at Civic Hall in July. Led by a 9-person live band demonstrating Caribbean and Latin musical genres, we'll engage with efforts such as WikiProject Latin Music, and will encourage editing on both English and Spanish Wikipedia. All are welcome, and newcomers and aspiring editors are especially encouraged to attend. Registration via Eventbrite is required for building entry, and is also encouraged on the event page on Meta. Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. Stagg Bowl

I am trying to create a page called 2024 Stagg Bowl, which is coming up in two days and I wanted to check if the page should be named as either 2024 Stagg Bowl or 2025 Stagg Bowl because the year that we are in is 2025 and the Stagg Bowl years have been increasing by one every time with the latter of the 2023 Stagg Bowl played back in December 2023. Template:Reverting without edit summary
editPlease leave an edit summary when reverting someone else's edit. You did not do so at Template:2024–25 Northeast Conference men's basketball standings. As I explained in my edit summary, I removed the space to make it consistent with the other notations in the standings. Before I did that, I had checked all the conference standings to see whether there was any consistency with spacing before the dagger for the conference tournament winner, and there was not. Since you simply reverted my edit without explanation, I went back and checked again whether you might have done so for consistency reasons and found that they now all have a space. Had you left an edit summary, I would have believed you and not wasted time re-checking. I'm going to add spaces before the asterisks in these standings, so they look consistent. I've noticed that you've recently moved a lot of articles, about Australian basketball club seasons, to draft. There was an RFC about this sometime ago at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)/Archive_172#Proposal to ban draftifying articles more than 90 days old without consensus and the outcome of that was that articles which were created more than 90 days ago should generally not be moved to draft unless there is consensus to do so at WP:AFD. Explain your issue: Alleged lack of notability re: Oregon-Stanford Football Rivalry Notability?

You tagged the article Oregon-Stanford Football Rivalry for lack of notability without any explanation on the article's talk page. Can you explain why it lacks notability as per the relevant guidelines? If you cannot do so I will simply persistently remove your tag, as you have failed to even state a case (see rule 4 of WP:WTRMT, when to remove a tag: "When an article talk page discussion has not been initiated (for templates requesting it);" Furthemore, there is no one else but you, as of now, questioning the notability of the article topic, and there have been other users beside myself questioning the existence of this particular tag, so the "silent consensus" would appear to be in favor of the article topic having enough notability. I would like to note: there are 6(!) independent (I think only one of the sources, footnote 4, can be considered non-independent) secondary sources cited in the article that not only affirm the existence of this rivalry but cover it in-depth, where more than just a few sentences are devoted to it, there it is NOT trivial coverage, and I would say 5-6 of the sources go beyond routine game coverage (WP:SPORTCRIT) It therefore abides by the GNG! ("Sports rivalries are not presumed notable. Articles on sports rivalries, such as Yankees–Red Sox rivalry, should satisfy the general notability guideline." - @Wickster12345: Though Oregon and Stanford have had some memorable games, one can debate that it should not be considered a rivalry with a much better case than other CFB rivalry articles. And secondly, that other user is not a regular user, but an unregistered IP (potentially a blocked account notorious for creating random CFB rivalry articles). And lastly, the "Analysis" section in the article makes the rivalry's notability seem forced, as it just explains journalists' opinions on the recent games in the all-time series like a film review from a film critic. - That is your opinion. I disagree strongly. You are clearly not abiding by Wikipedia rules whereby “multiple” independent sources (ie 2!) are sufficient to determine the existence of notability to justify an article. There are, therefore the article is notable. Also, just quoting excepts from overall articles whose sole objective is to explore the rivalries in depth doesn’t make your point very well. I think the rules are as long as there are independent secondary sources that go in depth in terms of the subject matter, and I think AT LEAST 2 do, this article is notable. (What a strange accusation) Second off, the majority of sources do not suggest that there is a rivalry and the ones that do are rather vague and are borderline WP:ROUTINE. There have been an increasing amount of new "CFB rivalry" articles, which are refbombs with a list of the games played, which I have been trying to fight against much to the chagrin of some of WP:CFB, and that article still seems like one of them. - @AusLondonder: In the case of Seydou Doumbia, JBW accidentally reverted it back to a vandalized version. For Vladislavs Gutkovskis, we (as in WP:FOOTY) normally put "expatriate sportspeople" categories for every country a footballer has played in outside their own. Backlog update
At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.
After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.
2024 and 2025 NPP Awards
Hey man im josh and MPGuy2824 won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.
Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.
BoyTheKingCanDance, Rosiestep, SunDawn, and Vanderwaalforces were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.
January–February backlog drive
The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.
May backlog drive

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
