New pages patrol January–February 2026 Backlog drive

January–February 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points. The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026. The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive. Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants. Each article review earns 1 point, while each redirect review earns 0.2 points. Streak awards will be granted based on consistently meeting weekly point thresholds. Bernice Tongate

Regarding sources aren't clear about when she was married, just that she did at some point after her service. That's why usage is somewhat inconsistent. @Clovermoss: Yeah, I can see that; I did a bit of searching myself, and could not find anything immediately. What I did find was this: https://www.facebook.com/theysaidshecouldntsoshedid/ - a full length book about her, by her great-granddaughter, Kendra Blevins Ford. I suspect she would have whatever info we need, and might be willing to give it. Also it's probably in the book which costs $10 on Kindle, or $15 paperback. I admit, I'm too cheap to spend that money - but I might be willing to send her a Facebook message, unless you plan to. Not pinging User:GreenLipstickLesbian since she said she doesn't have any more mental energy to spend on the article. Do you? If you don't either, then say (and add any questions you would like to ask, had you but the mental energy!), and I'll try to Facebook Messenger Kendra Blevins Ford directly. It's self-published so I'd have to be careful about how much the source is used. I read quite a lot anyways so I don't mind giving it a chance to at least flesh out some of the information about her personal life. No need to contact the author, though. February 2026

The Ancestor's Tales

I appreciate your feedback on The Ancestor's Tale. The article was once much longer, and some things made more sense. It's been shortened.

There is some crucial context that should be restored. You asked about the meaning of the epigraph from Mark Twain: "History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes." It's clear in context: The authors contend that "Evolution rhymes, patterns occur. And this doesn't just happen to be so. It is so for well-understood reasons: Darwinian reasons, mostly, for unlike human history or even physics, biology already has its grand unifying theory." They emphasize that no living species is ancestral to any other, but that all share a common ancestor, some more recently than others. Evidence for this fact is that the genetic code for translating genes into proteins is universal. More closely related species have more similar genes and proteins. Genes and proteins act as molecular clocks that allow us to determine when species split. They use concestor, coined by Nicky Warren, to describe the most recent common ancestor at each rendezvous point.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

2024 and 2025 NPP Awards

JTtheOG was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.

Hey man im josh and MPGuy2824 won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

Genealogy

Saw your posting at WikiProject Mathematics. I wanted to mention that if perhaps you happen to have old family photos, and a general interest in genealogy, you should pursue it. I'd recommend familysearch.org, in part because its free, and in part because it's run by the Church of the LDS. A lot of people kind of don't like that church, but they seem to be on a holy mission to preserve this kind of info forever, which, to me, is a higher purpose than corporate money-making, and I appreciate that. Anyway, I wandered off-topic: I've a stack of old photos, and tagging all of them was a very ... interesting experience. I kind of got to meet long-dead relatives, and got to know them, as it were, as friends, insofar as that's possible. It's a rewarding pursuit. linas (talk) 05:01, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
