This user is aware of the designation of the following as contentious topics:

Dunedin, FL
editI represent the Dunedin History Museum and the city historian. The reference link(s) to the first land grant and the incorporation of the city is from an old incorrect city of Dunedin page. The dates 1852 and 1925 are incorrect for the first land grant and the founding of the city.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.96.115.241 (talk • contribs) 15:10 4 August 2021 (UTC)

editIn fact that editor has repeatedly refused to advise me of what the problem is. I'm surprised to hear that editor is an experienced editor as I had not seen need to check. Right off attempting to inject FRINGE political bias and going on to repeatedly demand I debate positions I don't hold is strange for an experienced editor. I have said several times that we can remove and change any parts of my added text and asked how he wants to do that: He still refuses to reply instead insisting on these debates. Administrators' newsletter – April 2024
editNews and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2024).

- An RfC is open to convert all current and future community discretionary sanctions to (community designated) contentious topics procedure.
- The Toolforge Grid Engine services have been shut down after the final migration process from Grid Engine to Kubernetes. (T313405)
- An arbitration case has been opened to look into "the intersection of managing conflict of interest editing with the harassment (outing) policy".
- Editors are invited to sign up for The Core Contest, an initiative running from April 15 to May 31, which aims to improve vital and other core articles on Wikipedia.
Happy new year from Bishonen and Bishzilla!
editAucilla River
editDonald, I previously edited the Aucilla River article to state that it begins in Thomas County, not Brooks. I reside near the headwaters. If you review USGS Topographic Maps you will see that the headwaters rise in Thomas County. Nearly all of Brooks drains to the Little / Withlachoochee Rivers and ultimately to the Suwannee. https://apps.nationalmap.gov/viewer/ ~2026-22910-10 (talk) 18:00, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
- I am going by what the cited source says, as is required by the policy at WP:Verifiability. If you are aware of a reliable source that states that the Aucilla originates in Thomas County, please present it. Donald Albury 18:30, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – May 2026
editNews and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2026).

Interface administrator changes
- Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
- The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).
- The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
- Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
- Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
- The arbitration case Maghreb has been closed.
- The May 2026 administrator elections are scheduled to run from April 29 to May 19. The call for candidates ends May 5.
- The 2026 Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) election is scheduled to run from April 25 to June 1. Candidacy submissions close on May 10.
- A new noticeboard for non-urgent, batch page protection requests has been created, primarily for the enforcement of contentious topic restrictions.

Re: Squash disambiguation
editHi Donald,
Thank you for your work on the Squash disambiguation page. I'm just trying to bring clarity regarding the squash plant. I'd like to suggest a middle ground on the recent edit: rather than choosing between "Winter squash" or just "Squash" as the plant entry, I think it would be most accurate to mention both winter squash and summer squash — since squash as a vegetable encompasses both.
I also noticed that the current wording focuses on squash as a fruit of the genus Cucurbita, but it's not enough. There's no entry defining squash as a plant itself. I can add Squash (Plant) and sincerely suggest that adding a brief plant definition would make the disambiguation page more useful for readers.
Would you be open to discussing a revised wording that covers both points? I am a newbie, but will do my best to make it in a proper way 🙏
Thanks, Mary.Kuzmenko (talk) 10:33, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Mary.Kuzmenko: There can be only one blue link in an item on a DAB page. Note that Squash (vegetable) is a redirect to Cucurbita. An alternative for the first section on the DAB might be:
Squash most often refers to:
- Squash (sport), the high-speed racquet sport also known as squash racquets
- Squash, the fruit of vines of the genus Cucurbita
- Summer squash, fruit harvested when immature
- Winter squash, fruit harvested when mature

- Thank you so much for your kind response, Donald. I suggest the second option looks really good and include both relevant links - is it all right if I will add this editions to the Squash page (with appropriate formatting & links as you have suggested)?
- Squash, the fruit of vines of the genus Cucurbita
- - Summer squash, fruit harvested when immature
- - Winter squash, fruit harvested when mature Mary.Kuzmenko (talk) 21:11, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- Go right ahead, but be sure to use the double asterisks (**) for the sub-headings. Donald Albury 21:25, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- Huge thank you for your very kind support, Donald - I added the updates 🙏 Mary.Kuzmenko (talk) 15:53, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

You may be eligible to vote in the current U4C election, which is open now and closes on 2 June 2026. You can find out more about the candidates and the election on the election page on Meta, and from there you can access the vote itself. Your participation in these elections is important to the governance of Wikimedia communities, and your time spent learning about the candidates and voting is appreciated.
