There are two types of alerts:
- {{Contentious topics/welcome}}, which introduces an editor to contentious topics (CT) system and welcomes them to Wikipedia.
- {{alert}} (this template), which informs editors a particular topic has been designated as a CT. Consider using a hand-written message instead of this template.
All three are optional, effective June 2026. See Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Awareness repeal FAQ for more information.
This template should always be substituted – use {{subst:Alert}}. |
Usage
