What exactly have you done? The coloring of the new image is obviously different from that of the old image. But I could not find anything in the metadata that explained why the coloring was different. Indeed, when I clicked through to the source of the new image, I got something identical to the old image.
If you have "touched up" the image in some way, you should spell out what you did. Also, take a look at the metadata of the current image; you can guess that if we replaced it with any image, even your proposed new image, we would have to have an airtight excuse. I did not create the image I proposed; I just found it on Wikimedia Commons and thought it would fit better since it has more an accurate color to Geogre Washington. ReelCosmix (talk) 02:43, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Going with Nikkimaria on this; alteration of pigment tone in a portrait over 200 years old is not unexpected. Often, photoshopped results will try to correct pigment shifts by experimentation, though this is a somewhat speculative art and science. ErnestKrause (talk) 03:27, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
