Inherited from Medieval Tashelhit اليلى (alili, “oleander”), from Proto-Berber *a-lili (“oleander”), borrowed from Latin līlium (“lily”),[1] from Ancient Greek λείριον (leírion), ultimately from a Mediterranean substrate language.
