weekend, wheeee!

Off shortly for travel craziness and fun. Not that you all will notice. :)

A couple of things, though.

Top Chef Masters

I've been watching this when I remember to, but I did catch the finale. What struck me most was just how much those three like each other, respect each other, and want each other to do well. That was lovely. The food was secondary, frankly.

SYTYCD

Someone needs to explain to me why the judges are so hot to trot about Jordan. Beyond Nigel being a seriously dirty old man, I mean. Yes, she's a good dancer, but compared to the other nine I actually think she's the weakest. Gorgeous leg extension, sure, but she can only do it with her right, that's driving me nuts. And is it just me, or is she often completely off the beat?

Ryan also bugs me, but I can't quite put my finger on why. That history with the show choreographers and being favored there is irritating, but not her fault, and there something else.

Anyway, of the good -- I'm really digging Missy. There are others (plenty in this group!) who have more refined technique and everything, but she's really very good, she performs like crazy, and she comes off as refreshingly level-headed and fun in the interviews (online, as well as what we got during the show). Melanie and Sasha are tied for being my next favorites, and then either Clarice or Ashley. Or maybe Miranda. Seriously, they're all really good.

The guys are more complicated once you get past Marko and Nick (both of whom seem to be delightfully cross trained, yay), and I don't have time right now, so I'll save them for later.

But I will say that despite the bullshit of the results show and poor Cat looking like she wanted to smack Nigel, I'm actually glad to get another week with them all. The first few weeks are always the hardest to vote/judge.

And non-spoilery -- LJ has been randomly logging me out over the last month or so, but when it does, it's only...after. I mean, I can see my flist with all the locked posts, but when I click on one is when it says I'm not logged in. That's weird, but whatever. My problem comes in that when I do log in at that point, instead of taking me back to where I was, it takes me out to the generic front page. Is that just me? If anyone else has encountered it, do you know how to make that stop happening?

me, too. not all the time, but occasionally.

Yeah, it's just every unspecified number of days, etc. Just irritating, because I can't even click back to get to what I was trying to reach. Sigh.

I think LJ has been doing that to me too--at least, I feel like it always takes me back to the homepage. I've also noticed that often times if I'm logged out when I restart the computer, LJ tabs I had open go back to the front page and then won't let me recover the posts I was saving. It's not every tab, though, which makes me wonder if it's something to do with that individual's settings or something. (It's really aggravating. I had a lot of fic and vid posts open that I'm too lazy to go back and reconstruct how I found them.)

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! It's even just certain tabs within a window. It wouldn't be so maddening if it would just let me log in and then hit "back," but that option seems to disappear. Ah well. Good and bad that I know it's not just me. :)

[identity profile] wishfulaces.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! It acts like you were always on the homepage or something. What's the point in restoring your tabs each session if half of them are gone, I ask you? (But yeah, hey, confirmation that it's not just my computer being funky?)

This has happened to me too once or twice, lately. I had something similar happen last year as well, and then it just sort of stopped. It's definitely an LJ thing, but I never heard anything from the LJ people as to what the problem was or how to fix it. Boo.

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, I remember it logging me out randomly before, but never to the point where I couldn't hit "back" to get to where I was going. I guess here's hoping that it just goes away again...

I missed the results show, which I'm not at all sorry for (but I gather they ditched the whole thing about going to people's houses and telling them--wretched TV, that was! Also, it seemed to me that the auditions and Vegas shows were more filler than actual show. How many times can you show an "after the break" thing? A zillion, apparently).

As for the dancers, I don't know them enough to know their names yet, but I like Sasha a lot. I admit I'm biased because she was in a Travis Wall number and I loooooooooooooooooooooooove Travis in a deep and abiding way. And I want to love Jess and his little Broadway self, and he's the most technically accomplished guy out there, I think, but I don't know if he's going to read as too cocky and "performy" (that is, not "genuine") for the voters. Time will tell.

But I have to tell you, Eli, the fact that Christopher Scott, my emo tap-hip-hop dude from the LXD is choreographing? I MAY DIE OF AWESOME.

OMG, just realized that I'd never responded. I responded in my head! And of course now we're past the first week and things have gotten crazier, but I do still love Sasha, yes.

And I hope Christopher Scott comes back for more group dances, that was indeed AWESOME.
