Wow. CO was likely the best thing that's happened to me since Abby was born. It was peaceful, very nearly stress free (there was a convention there, so there's always a little stress in that), gorgeous, and I found some of the balance that's desperately been missing since Evie was born.

cut to spare people's listies )

I will be posting pictures! As soon as Karen sends me them!! Karen!!! I forgot to get pictures off your camera (mine was taking pretty pictures of my kids playing soccer ^o^) Can you send them to me, please??? Thanks!

OK. So. Being unemployed, I'm attempting to (with the amazing help of [personal profile] niqaeli and [personal profile] jmtorres) to get my costuming business up off the ground. Problem is, I'm horrible about getting pictures of my costumes, either ones I've worn myself, or ones that I made for others. Could you lovely people please either link or send me pictures of my work ^^; I promise to get better at actually *taking pictures*. Non-cosplay stuff applies too!

Thank you!!!

Cicadas are pretty and nice to listen to in the evening whilst sipping sweet tea and watching the fireworks upon a Fourth of July.

....

They are NOT fun to listen to the morning after when you are mowing the grass in the front yard, reminding you how effing humid and hot it is today =_=.

That is all, might make a real post later. When I don't feel like a partially melted Popsicle.

OK, ya know that rule of 3 thing? Well, I no longer give a flying fuck about that rule, my life, and it's shit-tastic ability to have everything go wrong at the same goddamn time has struck again, in a large fashion. Here's the last three weeks in a nutshell:

I rearend someone due to old/faulty tires/breaks (skidded 25 feet doing between 35 and 40 MPH, you do the math). At least I'm insured? but there's $1000 we weren't expecting to pay. Not a HUGE deal, we'll be tight, beg off about $150 in rent from the ol' mother in law, and we'll be able to get groceries.

Dental insurance refuses to pay the 80% they're *supposed* to pay for my dental work because the dentist used the composite stuff instead of the old silver amalgum because the composite is better, stronger and last longer. They're reason for not paying as much? "It's plastic and won't last as long." So there's another $400-ish that we owe, that I called and put off for a bit because of the deductible.

I do my court date for the rearend last Thursday. I can take the class, which is about 300 bucks, and have the ticket taken off my record! (cue lukewarm cheering) or pay the ticket, which is about 300 bucks...at least I keep the points?

The washing machine breaks. This was just last Sunday. I *think* it's because Trevor was standing in it to get the last of the laundry out of it, but considering the boy weighs about 41 pounds soaking wet? I'm kinda in doubt. the damn thing just refused to turn on for NO reason. Randy actually found one of the uber-nice kitchenaid front loaders on CL. Bad news, it's about $355 that we REALLY DON'T HAVE PERIOD. But, with Tervor consistantly making 5+ loads of laundry a week out of sheer laziness of NOT GETTING UP IN THE MORNING TO WIZZ IN THE TOILET (yes, I'm scheduling an appointment with the pediatrician to make sure that this isn't a medically founded reason, or if this is the only way he can rebel against the fact that we don't let him get away with anything) we can't go without the washing machine. So. New washer.

We run the first of the 11-ish loads we've got to do. We start the load and everyone heads to bed.

I get up at 1 AM as Abby has rolled a critical spot failure on her bottle; I go and plug it back in, then hear the TV on. I go out to find Trevor watching TV (yes, he's grounded from the damn thing for 7 days. 1 AM?!? *makes grumbly Mommy noises*) I go to put up the juice that he's been drinking on the couch into the fridge. Step into a huge puddle of water. More like a lake really. In the middle of my kitchen floor.

Needless to say I get Randy up. Nope, not leaking out of the fridge, not leaking from the dishwasher or the sink...I'm *almost* ready to blame Trevor for it, seeing as he's likely been up since the moment [personal profile] batrachian and [personal profile] trombonish went to bed, but I get the gut feeling to check the new washer.

Yup. There's the problem. Water pressure had forced the drain hose out of the hole it goes into and the washer had drained all into that room. And the adjacent wall into the kitchen.

We currently, as far as I can tell, have water about 2 inches up into that wall, as well as under about a ten foot stretch of the cabinetry. Which means that there's likely to be mold in the walls in the next 48 hours if I cannot figure out how to get the shit dried out/up.

The HUGE kicker to this??!? The mom in law didn't renew the homeowner's insurance like we thought she did (found that out when the old washer died. Couldn't get a repair man out here for the insurance rate because our policy had lapsed.) So we have to do this ourselves instead of hiring a professional because, yeah, we don't have the thousands of dollars a professional is likely to cost.

OK, so there's the long-winded explanation for the help I ask for now. Are there people that read this journal and can loan us fans and/or wet-dry vacuums to dry out the floor underneath the cabinets and the wall so we don't get mold? Additionally, is there anyone out there that has a relative in the home-repair business that could be convinced that we're a charity case in case there *is* mold and we need to have it taken care of? Go a head and post in either journal, or ping me on AIM (those that have me on there) as seriously, we need the help at this point. Thanks for listening, and if I don't answer a ping on AIM, I will shortly, I'm likely to be up the rest of the night stressing out about this.

Again, thank you in advance for at least reading all of this and huge thank you for all the help.

Well, I'm here...I'm going to try and figure it out, just not today.  Randy just got home from 'the little snip' and is more than a little sore.
