Sango - Slayer

Musings on something I mentioned on tumblr

In an effort to avoid editing the next chapter of Consigned to Oblivion, I'm going to ramble about something I'd really like to do but probably won't due to the huge potential for drama. Still, I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while and I still like it. (I don't like what other people will inevitably do with it, but what can I do?)

Anyway. I posted about the idea of doing a fanfic book club on my tumblr and got a decent response. I'm never going to get an overwhelmingly positive response to anything on that site due to having pissed off a few key people (and therefore being relegated to obscurity because I Am Bad And All My Ideas Are Bad And Must Not Be Shared), but a few people I trust to be decent were on board, so who knows. Maybe we can start small and see if people like it or if it's an awful plan.

At any rate, I value the input of everyone that still follows me here. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.
Sango - Slayer

One-Shot: Fire and Ice (Mir/San)

As a warm up for NaNoWriMo, I took a few ficlet requests on Tumblr a while back. One of them (Mir/San, "we're trapped in this ice cave for the night") turned into... more than a ficlet. The result was this (smutty) one-shot.

Fire and Ice (3688 words) by Griddlebone
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: InuYasha - A Feudal Fairy Tale
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Miroku/Sango (InuYasha)
Characters: Sango (InuYasha), Miroku (InuYasha)
Additional Tags: One Shot, Explicit Sexual Content, Sex In A Cave, Huddling For Warmth, Snowed In, Blizzards & Snowstorms
Summary:

After a snowstorm traps them in a cave for the night, Miroku has an idea to help pass the time. Sango makes him work for it, or tries to.

It's almost like the person who requested this used my love of Jon Snow/Ygritte from GoT against me with this prompt.

A Divine Conspiracy has been updated

I just uploaded the 40th installment of A Divine Conspiracy. Ten pieces left to go!

It feels super weird to be in the home stretch, as it were. In August, it'll be four years since I posted the prologue, and I'm hoping the tale will be completed by then. I really don't know what I'm going to do with myself when this monster is done.

(Who am I kidding? I still have Numbered Days, The End of Days, Season of Sorrow, The Duck and the Jewel, and a bunch of other things to finish...)

self indulgent post ahoy

Apparently I turn anxiety into writing. We aren't going to find out anything about my uncle's condition until afternoon tomorrow at the earliest. In the meantime I churned out most of a 7,100-word chapter for A Divine Conspiracy this afternoon.

I have never really talked about that fic here for a variety of reasons which I won't go into now (though largely it's because most of my friends here just don't care about Power Rangers fic, so I'm sorry to bore you with this post). I just wanted to talk about it a bit right now because it's crossed a lot of big milestones for me and I want to distract myself with good things and happy thoughts.

If you had asked me three years ago, when this story was in its infancy, if I thought it would turn out to be the behemoth it is right now, I'd have laughed and said no, it was just a silly, spoofy AU riff on the fandom and the fantasy novels I enjoy so much. Today's chapter puts the published story at 201,424 words. I was psyched when the tale reached 100,000 words (and a bit intimidated). It kind of blows my mind that it's now passed the 200K mark. And by my best estimation, there's at least another 100K to go before it wraps up.

It's also my most reviewed story, currently sitting at 205 reviews on ff.net. (If you'd asked me three years ago if I thought such a thing was even possible, I'd have laughed myself silly!)

I've finally finished outlining the rest of the chapters, including names for those chapters. It looks like it's going to wrap up with 48 chapters, plus prologue and epilogue for a total of three story arcs and an even 50 parts. It's weird and frightening to have the end in sight after so long. I'm afraid of what people are going to think of some of the plot twists and convolutions that I've got planned, but at the same time I'm excited to finally get to writing and posting some of the scenes that have been haunting me for years now (and to finally start explaining some of the things people have been asking about since I posted the prologue back in 2010).

Now back to your regularly scheduled whatever. My brain feels like fuzz right now. I can't remember the last time I wrote this much in one sitting.
