Gimme A Break was my favorite tv show when I was a kid. I was also obsessed with Ms. Pac-man. I also loved to listen to Michael Jackson and moonwalk, when I was a kid. The 80's are nostalgic to me because it was a time of good memories with family and friends. It was memorable because I was a kid and I think it was just a great decade to grow up in. I love The Incredible Shrinking Woman.
New Look

Saw George Michael play his Wham! hit Last Christmas in London last week, made YouTube vid thingy:-)

Oh wow I found an 80s community on LJ! Any Wham! fans? I hope so. Remember the song Last Christmas? They play it all the time this time of year. Well, last week in London, George Michael performed 5 concerts, I went to ALL of them! Best time of my life. I went from Canada for it. He sang a lot of old songs and some Wham! songs too. There was going to be a Wham! reunion on the last night but Andrew Ridgeley apparently backed out due to nerves at the last minute. What a bummer.

Fans would gather at pubs to talk about Wham! and George before and after the shows, especially at the Blue Check Pub near Wembley Arena. Dec. 15th was special. We had an aftershow party where we danced for hours to the sounds of old Wham! and new George songs. Amazing! I never thought I would be in a club dancing to "I'm Your Man" or "Last Christmas". George treated us on Dec. 11 and again Dec 17 with a surprise performance of Last Christmas, complete with fake snow and all! It was incredible.

I made my 1st ever YouTube posting and also put it on MySpace. It's shots from the Last Christmas performances and of us dancing at BlueCheck on Dec 15 (couple pics of Dec 11 and 14 too). When the Last Christmas song was played at the pub we all got in a big circle and danced together. I will never forget that! Check out if you love Wham! but remember it's my 1st try at this and I know it isn't the best!

I'll Show Them All!

Did you ever hear this?

Sorry, but my first post here will be to ask about lyrics from the early 80s...

There was a song by a group that might be Supertramp (it sounded like them anyway), but I'm not sure. The chorus was, "Bop-shoo-wanna, bop-shoo-wanna."

Does anyone have the faintest idea what this song is/might be? It's been driving me crazy for nearly five years!

Original '80s Duran Duran autographed 8x10 for sale!

Hi all,

I didn't see anything in the community info against selling posts, so feel free to delete this if it goes against a rule I haven't seen (I haven't even lurked much here). My apologies in advance. It's xposted to the Duranduran.com forums as well as other LJ groups.

I was given a box full of Duran Duran memorabilia... books, clippings, articles, posters, calendars, etc., all in fantastic condition, a veritable DD time capsule. Amongst these treasures (ask me if you're looking for anything in particular; I also have a couple of US tour souvenir programs, the Sing Blue Silver photo book, and other publications from the US, UK, and Japan) I found an original 8x10 glossy Columbia Records photo of the band signed by all five original members. It is addressed to the initial owner, a young lady named Suzanne, who was 14 at the time of the photo's signing.

I can't really provide a certificate of authenticiy, but if you're willing to work with me, I can probably get a signed statement from Suzanne attesting to its authenticity. E-mail me at mpfeffer at sualum dot com if you'd like a watermarked photo to prove it's the real thing.

Name what you feel is a workable price. As much as I love Duran Duran, I am not a sixteen year old girl and thus this would look a little bit out of place for me.

It'll be packed with bubble wrap and shipped insured for the value. I'll accept payments via Paypal. If you feel uneasy about sending money sight unseen, I will set up an Ebay auction and provide you the details, then close it immediately after we bid. Or we can work something else out. I'm pretty flexible.

E-mail me if you have any questions... mpfeffer at sualum dot com.

Thanks!

WHAM! MORE TIME
EXCLUSIVE George and Andrew play reunion gig at Wembley
By Ben Todd Showbiz Editor

WHAM! are to reform 20 years after they split.

George Michael, 43, has persuaded exbandmate Andrew Ridgeley to reunite for a Christmas concert at London's Wembley Arena.

They will be joined by their backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie to make it the pop event of the year. Despite George's recent problems - last week he was cautioned for possession of cannabis after being found again slumped asleep at the wheel of his car - he has been determined to persuade Andrew, also 43, to team up with him again.

A friend revealed: "George is thrilled that Andrew's agreed to perform. It was something George had thought about for a long time. He couldn't be happier and can't wait for the gig."

Pop superstar George began his first tour in more than 15 years in Barcelona last month. Critics hailed his return to live performing, with one reviewer noting that although George's "trademark stubble is now greying, he still has one of the finest voices in British pop".

George and Andrew, pictured far left as he is now, first met at Bushey Meads School in Hertfordshire, formed Wham! in 1981 and had 10 Top Ten hits in four years. They became the first Western pop act to tour China, but split in 1986 following a legendary farewell show called The Final at Wembley Stadium.

Trying to remember an 80s educational show...

I used to watch this educational show that used puppets (kind of like Muppets) to teach counting and stuff. They were all in a little schoolhouse and I'm not sure if it was ever actually on TV or just direct to video. I've been searching all over and it's driving me crazy that I can't remember the name. Does anyone else remember this?

Or, if anyone can point me to the production company... I remember that when the video started up the logo for the company was a red sneaker being laced up by itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!

The other day, I was watching "American Inventor" and I got to thinking and remembering about a couple books that I really, REALLY loved as a child.

But unfortunately, I think that over the years, they may have gotten lost or accidentally thrown out or given away by my parents, and for some reason, I can NOT seem to remember either the title or name of the author/authors, so even though I want to re-purchase them, I am having a REALLY hard time locating them, and I am hoping that maybe someone on here has these books and/or knows the title and/or the name of the author or authors and can help me out.

The first book was a big children's soft-cover paperback book (I think it was at least a couple hundred pages) about pet care. It had chapters/sections for each kind of pet, from the usual (dogs, cats, fish, etc.) to the unusual (exotic animals, reptiles, rodents, etc.) It was illustrated but the pictures were not actual photos, but cartoons. The book was about the different aspects of pet care, including feeding, training, medical issues, etc, and dealt with nearly all kinds of pets.

The second book was a big children's joke book, but it also had a section for inventions that "you wish existed" Mostly it was a joke/riddle book. But it had this chapter for crazy inventions.

If anyone can help me remember and/or find these books from the 1980's-1990's, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!
