Oh Granters of Dark Disgrace

@do-not-awake-me-again

Just here to have fun and talk about my likes, my ao3 handle is Beastboy134 https://archiveofourown.org/users/Beastboy134

did… did she really say that? iconic

“Excuse You, i am Black and i Fuck”

Best part: this was improv.

George wasn’t supposed to have a line there, he was supposed to brandish the sword, grab her and leave. George decided to ad-lib a line because he thought it was funny and that it was in character. So Nichelle had no idea that George was about to say anything. They start the take, George leaps over there, grabs her and says his line. And Nichelle Nichols, not Lt Uhura, looks at him with That Look on Her Face, and in two iconic words lets the world know what she and Lt Uhura are about.

My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.

Shoutout to people in the notes also mentioning people learning the language, I should've mentioned that really, given that I've been stuck reading German picture books myself while learning German.

do you ever think about how in the pilot chapter rukia was like the size of a mouse. i think about that a lot. obv kubo changed Quite A Bit from that initial chapter for the series proper but could you imagine rukia being three inches tall for the entire run until she gets her powers restored.

  1. this is the first I'm hearing of this and:

Kubo was headed in a VERY different direction but I'm DELIGHTED by Micro-Rukia.

2. Her being Liliputian until basically the end of the soul society arc is REALLY FUNNY.

  • How does the hogyoku even FIT in there?
  • Actually "If you give up/lose your powers you'll be like three inches tall" is a VERY FUNNY consequence for any supernatural person in Bleach to face. People who had to go past their limits in a battle should shrink as soon as the adrenaline wear off.
  • Instead of having to wait for Unohana, Yachiru just picks up Zaraki like a rag doll and takes him to the hospital after his duel with Ichigo.
  • Minazuki is the size of a normal Manta Ray and Unohana just tosses people in need of healing at her like throwing treats for your dog to catch.
  • The whole fourth resembles and elaborate doll's house full of tiny rooms for the tiny patients.
  • Hollows should become small and also really fucking cute. Itty Bitty Kitty Grimmjow. Baby Bat Ulquiorra. They'd hate it so much.
  • Aizen realizes he's been defeated because Ichigo starts looking taller. He is imprisoned in a shoebox.
  • Yoruichi is using her cat form to disguise the fact that she's about the same size as a cat when she's in human form too, because she had to give up a huge chunk of her power to be able to hide in the living world.
  • Kisuke is just walking around his candy shop, toddler-sized and insisting this is perfectly normal.
  • We All Know Some Shit Is Afoot with Isshin because he's normal-sized.

Thank you for this. I am going to lovingly chew on it now.

Don't forget Ichigo loses his powers in some form four times over the course of the manga (Byakuya stabbing him, mugetsu use, getting his Fullbring ganked, getting his bootleg zapakuto broken). He'd end up doll-sized each time, and that's not counting all the times he goes beyond his limits in an arc climax and needs days to recover.

I am here imagining him eventually just setting up a little identical dollhouse version of his bedroom inside his actual bedroom to stay in when he inevitably gets tiny again

If he was still in danger/needed to be moved, Orihime would shove tiny!Ichigo into her cleavage and fucking run. Our boy is having a real time of a time post-battle.

having an evil shixiong: most normal thing in the world. in fact if you don’t have an evil shixiong you need to really carefully consider the possibility that you might be the evil shixiong

having an evil shishu: also extremely normal. what, you can have an evil shixiong but your shifu can’t? grow up.

having an evil shidi: also fairly common, although there might be a larger issue at play so keep your eyes open for that

having an evil shifu: this is itself an issue, since you are now in one of the classic Confucian Conundrums and have to choose between sacrificing righteousness or filial piety

having an evil disciple: come on man. this one’s on you

having an evil shimei: stop what you’re doing RIGHT now. as of this moment, your one and only mission is to unconditionally support your evil shimei, no takesie backsies

having an evil shijie: ccan i get yuor shijie’s number. please

I think the reason why Ichigo is such a likable main character for a Shonen series for me is that…he’s a punk. And not just in the vague idea of a punk that pop media has given us over the years, though that is how we’re initially introduced to him—he’s got a rude attitude, he gets into fights a lot, and he doesn’t fuck around. But the story also doesn’t waste time in showing us how much deeper it goes—because above all else, Ichigo is incredibly kind. We’re introduced to him beating up a bunch of thugs because they desecrated a dead girl’s shrine, and then comforting her spirit. And this attitude of Ichigo reaching out to care for those who have been hurt has never stopped—he’s even worried for his enemies, because for the most part, Ichigo doesn’t want to see people hurt or killed. He doesn’t even want to be the strongest shinigami, he just wants the world to get better, and since he has to power and the opportunity, he’ll take the responsibility if he needs to.

He just wants a normal life, and as long as the world refuses to give him one, he’ll fight until it lets him, and I think that’s wonderful.

Naruto has been traveling with Jiraiya for years so he should really know better than to trust the old pervert about anything at this point. “You said one of your old contacts was in need of protection.”

“He is,” Jiraiya says, doing a good job of keep his serious face on despite their surroundings, “we have good intelligence that someone’s going to try and assassinate him tonight.”

“Uh huh,” he says dryly, “I’m out of here.”

He’s been in more brothels with Jiraiya than he can count and he has no interest in another one. There’s a field a mile back that’s good enough to get some training done in and, should he get bored of that, a bar a little further on that he’s sure has perfectly serviceable company.

“Not so fast.” Jiraiya grabs onto his arm, yanking him back when he heads toward the door.

Naruto twists out of his grip, irritated, because this crap is the literal worst part of traveling with him, but then he glances at the stage and freezes.

A half dozen girls are up there, swaying their bodies to a beat being plucked out on a shamisen. He’s long grown immune to the appeal of brothel workers, but there’s one that catches his attention immediately. Jiraiya follows his gaze, of course, and sucks in a breath between his teeth. “Naruto…”

“See you tomorrow,” he says absently, “good luck with your assassin.”

“You’re supposed to be helping me!” he hisses, and then when Naruto doesn’t react, he adds, “This isn’t healthy.”

Yeah, because Jiraiya is the paragon of healthy choices. He just waves a hand in either acknowledgement or dismissal, he’s not really sure, and continues towards the stage, eyes focused on the only one of them worth looking at. He sees the moment she notices him. She doesn’t pause, doesn’t stumble, doesn’t even really look at him. But he feels it, a shift in the air like something right before a fight. This isn’t the right setting for it, however. Too much potential property damage.

He reaches the edge of the stage, moving people out of his way with ease that leaves them pissed and sputtering, but also conveys that any fight they’d start, they’d lose. These morons are all civilians. The other five girls on the stage are cute enough, of course, but mostly they’re just in his way.

A dark blue kimono loose around the shoulders. Pale skin. Dark hair pulled up in a style held together by silver ornaments. Equally dark eyes that still won’t meet his.

The madam senses blood in the water and steps to his side, warm and inviting. “Something catch your eye, sir?”

“I’m taking that one,” he says, going so far as to point if only because it makes those dark eyes flash with indignation.

The madam almost doesn’t flinch. “Ah, I’m afraid she’s not available for purchase. Perhaps–”

“This is a brothel. Everyone’s for sale,” he says, reaching for his wallet. The madam is still trying to offer him some girl he doesn’t want when he takes out more cash than five girls could be worth at a place like this and shoves it into her hand. She stops talking. “I’m taking the top room.”

He jumps onto the stage and girls scatter, letting out delicately shocked gasps and positioning their bodies at the perfect angle to be grabbed. All except one.

“Don’t,” she starts.

Naruto ignores her, bending down to wrap his arm around her legs and tossing her over his shoulder. Picking her up bridal style would be more romantic, but this way it’s significantly harder for her to scratch his eyes out. He flash steps away upstairs, kicking the door closed behind him and then biting his thumb to smear a locking seal in place. He drops her onto the bed, grinning when she gives a little bounce. The kimono really is in danger of sliding off her upper body entirely.

She’s glaring, but she also hasn’t stabbed him yet, so. “Are you out of your mind?”

“What do you think happens in brothels?” he returns, kicking off his shoes before crawling over her, a leg between hers and both his hands on either side of her head. “This is what you’re here for, isn’t it?”

He should probably be concerned about other familiar faces making an appearance, but she wouldn’t be here, like this, if that were the case.

“What do you think happens in brothels?” she sneers. “Like you have any idea–”

Naruto kisses her.

Her lips are smooth and slick with something that tastes waxy, but her mouth is warm and wet and it’s not hard to nudge her into an angle that won’t hurt his neck, to lead her lips and tongue into responding. When he pulls back, her lipstick is smudged, probably now more on his mouth than hers, and there’s a flush to her pale skin that wasn’t there before.

“You’ve done that before,” she says, a clear accusation.

He shrugs. “Yeah.” Her eyes narrow and he tries not to let his lips twitch up because he knows she’ll hate it, but he can’t help it. “You’re the first time I’ve paid for it, though.”

“Who’d let you kiss them for free?” she mutters.

“A gentleman doesn’t kiss and tell,” he says.

She’s glaring again. “You’re hardly a gentleman, grabbing girls and throwing them around.”

“Do I have to be a gentleman?” he returns. “You’re bought and paid for.”

“Thought you’d be the type that wants your partner to enjoy the experience,” she shoots back.

He grins, shifting to hold himself up with one hand so he can grab her chin and make sure she’s looking right at him, her eyes focused directly onto his. “I am. I imagine if you had any real objection to what was happening, your eyes would look a bit different right now.”

She flushes, trying to look away from him, but he’s too close for that. “Arrogant.”

“Confident,” he corrects, swiping his thumb over her bottom lip. “If you don’t like your current circumstances, I could take you home with me.”

All he wants is to take her home with him.

“Going to buy out my contract?” she asks, voice warming in amusement. “I don’t think you can afford it. I think the money you threw down for me is all you had to your name and you’ll be eating cup ramen for the next month.”

“Not the first time,” he shrugs, because, yeah. Not quite everything, but close.

She’s so beautiful. She’s always been beautiful. She’s even more so when her face softens, just a little. “The price is too high. You couldn’t afford it.”

“Try me,” he challenges, like he’s not already paying it, like he hasn’t been paying it from the moment he left the village with Jiraiya. He’ll do it. He’ll do anything. She should have figured that out by now.

She sighs, “I should kill you.”

“Think of the property damage,” he suggests and then he’s kissing her again.

Her hands go to his hair and he lets his weight settle a little more on top of her, pressing her down into the bed. This time when he pulls away, he kisses her jaw, then her neck. It’s all pale smooth skin, no hint of anything else, but he knows exactly where the mark he can’t see is. He bites down, barely keeping himself from breaking skin.

She gasps and grips his hair hard enough to hurt but doesn’t pull him away. “Are you seriously doing this?”

“Better than fighting,” he mumbles, licking over her neck, feeling the indent left by his teeth under his tongue. That’s what he should be doing, that’s what they always do, but they’re too evenly matched for it to go anywhere without risking the other’s death, and neither of them are willing to go that far. Yet. If they’re not going to fight, they might as well do this.

She’s trembling under him. He’s done this before. He’s pretty sure she hasn’t. “How did you even–”

“You think I can’t recognize my own jutsu?” he laughs. “Give me some credit.”

“Don’t see why I should start now,” she says and he laughs again, smoothing a hand down her hip then reaching up under the kimono, rubbing the back of his knuckles against the smooth skin of her outer thigh. She shivers under his hand. “You’re teasing me.”

“Sorry,” he says.

“Liar,” she returns.

It’s just one more thing they have in common, really.

u can tell a lot about how someone views children when you refer to them as having traits a child would have in a neutral or even positive context and they react negatively

Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don’t know, that gaslight gatekeep girlboss meme, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you think modern feminism has been co-opted by corporations. But what you don’t know is that that meme is not from Instagram, it's not from Twitter, it's not from Tiktok, it’s actually from Tumblr. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that in January 2021, Tumblr user missnumber1111 posted, "today's agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss." And then I think it was a-m-e-t-h-y-s-t-r-o-s-e, wasn’t it, who reblogged it with an image of the phrase edited over a piece of "Live, Laugh, Love" wall art? And then gaslight gatekeep girlboss showed up in the feeds of eight different Twitter repost accounts. Then it filtered down through Instagram and then trickled on down into some tragic “alt side of Tiktok” where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that meme represents millions of notes and countless Tumblr users and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from Tumblr when, in fact, you’re wearing the meme that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of “stuff.”

I swear this is how I feel every time I see a Tumblr screenshot out in the wild
