Six Sentence Sunday: Post six sentences from whatever you're working on, if you're game! Folks who don't want to make their own posts are very welcome to share their snippets here.

From "A Wishbone Compass" (Our Flag Means Death, Fang/Izzy, a canon divergence AU where Fang and Izzy wash up on a desert island together a year before s1):
Fang's clothes were dry by the time the sun set, and it felt nice to wiggle back into his fire-warmed trousers as the breeze off the water turned cooler. With a storm still circling out there, he thought it might be cozier to camp on the other side of the hill, but who knew what kind of beasties might be out in the forest at night. Besides, they'd be easier to spot out here, for better or for worse—and hopefully for the better.

Izzy seemed to be thinking along the same path, drawing lines in the sand with a stick and squinting at them in the falling light, muttering occasionally as he tried to work out how long it would take the Queen Anne to get back here if the crew refitted at sea, how long it would take if the ship had to put in at Antigua, how long if they had to limp down to Dominica.

"A week at the outside," he finally proclaimed, nodding at the evidence of his figuring. "More likely as soon as tomorrow, knowing him."

It was as warming as the fire, in its own funny way, to sit in the glow of Izzy's absolute faith that the captain would come looking for them.

Ooh! Izzy and Fang desert island fic. Will they get rescued or not? dun dun DUN!

Here's mine:

The journey wasn’t easy. Jim alternately shouted drunken ramblings; tripped over; argued about where they were going; or at worst, was far too affectionate.

“You’re my bes' friend, Barney,” he said, gazing at him cross-eyed when they stopped for a minute so Jim could piss against a wall.

“Well you’re not mine.” Barney clutched at the first unfriendly thought that came into his mind. “You told Richard Gibbon I've got no initiative.”

Thanks. In the show it was Nicola who looked after drunk Jim, so I changed it to the slash version where Barney has to look after him 😅

Yes, the real scene involved that old cliché 'cornered by the police in a dark alley so they kiss to avoid suspicion', so what's a writer to do but slash it instead? *tries to look innocent*

It is! What a gift of a scene for a slash writer! I couldn't believe they still use that trope in TV shows.😅Although I think it was meant to be ironic, for reasons I won't bore you with.
