These are another six ficlets for [community profile] threesentenceficathon (the ficathon where you leave a prompt and someone writes a three-sentence story for that prompt), bringing my total so far to a nice round twenty. Or the princely sum of sixty sentences!

Once a Thief (TV)

Possessed in Patience (Camier/Murphy, rated T, 70 words, AO3 Link)
Prompt: write (or rewrite) something for one of your very first fandoms

He presses the cartridges home one by one, then inserts the magazine into the pistol and chambers a round. His right hand slips under Camier's jacket, holding it open while his left tucks the loaded pistol tenderly into the shoulder holster beneath; then he waits, watching with attentive appreciation as Camier provides the service in kind.

These little labours, these small rewards—these shared rituals are what sustain a partnership.

Our Flag Means Death

Rub It Out (Fang/Roach, rated T, 103 words, AO3 Link)
Prompt: healing hands

"Sit," he says, forgoing his own rule about not treating anything short of a missing limb after dinnertime when he catches Fang rubbing at his neck.

Fang sits on the galley bench, taking off his vest with an appreciative smile and baring his broad back for Roach's appreciative eyes.

A good handful of coconut oil warmed to melting between his palms, a flex of his fingers, and a warning that he does not intend to be gentle—then he digs in hard and wrings out the loveliest whimpers and assorted noises of breathy, agonized pleasure as he puts that knotted muscle to rights.

Five Days Out (Izzy Hands & Crew of the Revenge, rated G, 80 words, AO3 Link)
Prompt: propreantepenultimate

Start every job like you're the one who'll have to finish it, but don't bank on another quiet Sunday coming along. Say what needs saying, but hold your tongue until you know how to say it better.

Living each day like it's your last is shit advice—Izzy having had enough would-be ones to know it—but he's doing all right with his crew, counting his numbered days on the fingers of one hand and holding fast with the other.

Beware of Dog (Fang/Izzy Hands, rated M, 114 words, AO3 Link)
Prompt: pet play

The collar he picked for Izzy for the puppy game is made of stout black leather, worked until it's nice and soft on the inside and studded with iron spikes on the outside. Some people think that's the sort of collar you put on a mean dog, but it's not—it's the sort of collar you put on a brave one, to keep him safe, to let him know that nothing will be tearing out his throat if he bares it.

"There we go," Fang croons as he threads the buckle, and Izzy sits up straighter under the snug embrace, eyes alert but shoulders easing, ready to let the good boy out to play.

Gourmet (Fang/Izzy Hands/Roach, rated T, 92 words, AO3 Link)
Prompt: a poly pairing

Savoury and sweet, soft to the bite and warmly seasoned—these are the makings of a hearty meal anyone would be lucky to be served. Roach, however, is the sort of man who also craves the bright burn of acid, the dark depth of bitterness, and the sharp and satisfying crunch of something in need of the firm application of tooth and jaw. And when those two come together, flavours mingled, stove-hot and doubly portioned, the dish is elevated well beyond the sum of its ingredients and Roach feasts like a king.

Sea Change (Izzy Hands, rated G, 110 words, AO3 Link)
Prompt: if only you knew all the places you'd go

For all that the sight of white sails on the horizon is as familiar as grey rainclouds above, young Israel Hands has never contemplated what lies on other shores. Here, going to sea is no different than going to the poorhouse or going to gaol; people leave for a long time, and sometimes they come back with flint in their eyes and tales of hard labour and foul but steady meals, but mostly they don't. Food and work, that's all he expects the first time he signs on as a ship's boy, unable to conceive of anything beyond his empty belly and the promise of something to fill it tomorrow.
