It is not often that Medic is the stupidest of them, but he is stupid about winter. The others put on all their clothes and go inside as soon as work is over, but Medic goes to war in his medical coat, his gloves made of rubber, his hat flying off and left in the snow.
“Tch,” he says, “I went to medical school in Bavaria, you know!”
He refuses to wear a scarf.
“It fogs up my glasses.”
So does coming inside, and Mikhail takes advantage of the doctor’s temporary blindness to steer him to his bunk.
