flist, since I just did an icon rehaul, ask me about one of my icons? they honestly are all pretty self-explanatory, but, you know, I LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THEM. they are all pretty and full of people and things I enjoy. <3
and if that doesn't inspire you, an interest of mine?
I feel the need to just...ramble on about fandom! it's been a whiiiiiile. so, you know, I'm going all MEME on you, except I can't pick one. Just ask me about a fannish topic or a pairing or my unpopular opinions or one of my interests or whatev, and I will ramble onto you indefinitely about it. goodtiems, I guess?
I'm presently catching up on Lost, and just. SHOW, HOW DID WE GET TO THIS POINT? I was so bored during one of the episodes that I broke out the laptop and started playing Text Twist and obviously now I am writing this entry! But for some reason I can't stop watching; IT'S AN AFFLICTION. I can't even watch Kicking Ass & Taking Names: The Juliet and Sayid Double Feature anymore, because they get SUCH LIMITED SCREENTIME. *RAILS!* ( Collapse ) at least the score remains pretty!
I should be packing for camp, and I remember a similar situation arising last year. To further procrastinate, I did the unpopular fandom opinions meme, and I think make that an annual thing; also, my general attitude about fandom has changed a lot. So, comment with a fandom and I will list my unpopular opinions.
To start it off: Unpopular Opinions on General Fandom 1. Shippers do not view the next in an inherently inferior way than non-shippers or multi-shippers or random people on the street. It's just another way to enjoy fiction. 2. Fandom would be so much more fun if people understood the difference between objective and subjective! 2b. Ships do not all have an equal chance of becoming canon. You can like them, but, uh, they may not have any basis in the actual source material! 3. Not being a slasher =/= being homophobic. No, really. 4. [insert rant about how female characters are treated in fandom here] 4b. "Mary Sue" is the most generic insult ever, and rarely, rarely true. just, uh, stop using it. 5. Happy characters/ships are not any less deep than characters/ships overflowing with angst. Pleeeease stop belittling them, it hurts my soul. 6. Fandom is supposed to be FUN, good lord, no one is obligated to do anything except respect each other. THIS IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT.
Despite wanting to see basically EVERY OTHER movie in theaters, I was dragged to see The Strangers tonight, which I pretty much thought was absolutely dismal, but I hate horror, so there you go. But I've never been to see a scary movie in a theater, and the overall experience was pretty hilarious. I enjoyed the INTENSE SCREAMS followed by roaring laughter. the highlight: after the first Big Scare, a boy directly in front of us SPRINTED OUT of the theater, silhouetted on the screen; his friend ran after him, dragged him back, and there was a hurried conversation that involved a panicked "We should have seen Indiana Jones." I LOL'ed unabashedly.
though that was NOT a good movie to go see three days before leaving to live in the middle of the woods. SIGH.
anyways, meme, because tiptoes did it and it was hilarious:
All you have to do is comment to this post with questions you'd like to know about me. Whatever strikes your fancy. It can be as simple as "What's your favorite movie?" to "How old were you when you got your first kiss?" or whatever. Fandom-related questions are DEFINITELY ALLOWED. I will answer in the form of a voice post. So have at it!
oh, it's finally started to feel like summer, and I love it. downside: we painted the fence yesterday with oil-based paint (I was unaware!) and it is all over me and I can't get it off. upside: I am going downtown to see Iron Man today; obvs am quite excited.
Every time I hear anything about The Hobbit (most recently, of course, the source being the del Toro/PJ interview at TORn), I am completely pleased. hopefully this continues, homg. ("Unequivocally, every single actor that originated a role in the Trilogy will be asked to participate and reprise it." !!!)
briefly, on the Doctor Who trailer (because I can't NOT comment): ( Collapse )
As I sit around bemoaning LJ's inactivity, I figure I should at least make an effort to entertain myself. so, I am putting myself out there for that comment with a character or ship or idea in fandom and I will prattle on for 100+ words about said topic meme; flist, THE BALL IS NOW IN YOUR COURT.
(I promise I will actually respond this time! really!)
p.s. epiphany of the day: the LotR soundtracks are my emo music, oh my ridiculous self.
