It made the kid's gun look like a toy and the street punk had run a city mile.

Summary: In all the seas in all the world, there exists no pirate more feared or hated than the Villainous Captain Lambert of The Madness. Tales of his cunning and the black magic that grants him his success are known across the world. Some say that he is devil-born, others that he was cursed as a boy to sail the seas in search of redemption but all agree that to cross paths with The Madness and her white-garbed captain is to know damnation, death and utter despair.

Lieutenant Kristopher Allen, of her Majesty's ship The Hawk, knows all the stories and was once counted amongst the rare few to survive his first encounter with the Villainous Captain. Many tides have passed since then and Kris is burdened with more worldly concerns. His childhood friend, now his fiancée, Katy needs his protection and Kris' duty calls him to sea and battle with the pirate menace in the waters around his Charles Towne home.

He has worries enough for any man but Kris' luck is running out. A wounded Hawk is easy prey and his home port may lie beyond his reach. Kris escaped the Villainous Captain once, but it is surely beyond the hope of any man to survive a second encounter?

Author Notes: I want to say a huge thank you to my beta, , and our writing partner in crime, Tacitus. Their painstakingly good betas and editing means that you won’t have to put up with the many errors that existed in the first draft. As always, any existing errors are my fault. I want to say a huge thank you to as well. She has done some awesome artwork for this, so go check out her post. But it’s fair to say that without the three of them poking and prodding me, this wouldn’t have gotten written.

This is possibly the most researched story that I have ever written and I am now the proud owner of at least a dozen books on pirates in general, pirates in specific, the British Navy and sailing. I’ve tried to make it as historically accurate as possible while not adding in too much useless information. I’ve had a lot of fun writing this and I hope that you enjoy reading it.

Disclaimer: This is not real and no insult is intended. Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, as well as the various others in this story, are real people and I have taken extreme artistic liberty with their characters. No profit is being made from this work. All situations are purely fiction and any relationship to real life is strictly coincidental. Well, apart from the real pirates mentioned in the story, but they never came across The Madness.

Warnings first:  As you can see from the pairing, this story deals with a relationship between two males and does include gay sex.  This story is also particularly violent in places and has scenes of a non-consentual or dubious consentual nature.  This may provoke a triggered reaction in some readers. 

This is a futuristic AU, set against a dystopian future backdrop where corporations rule the world and Adam and Kris are pawns in the greater system.  It's dark, it's gritty and at times, it's not a very nice place to live.  But love conquers all, right?

This started off as a random idea after watching a video game trailer.But I didn’t have any reason to write it.  But then Kink Big Bang came along and the muse bit. I really do owe a massive thank you to my beta and writing collaborator, aramuin , and also to M. who listened and offered feedback.

Summary:
His name is Adam, and like his namesake he was the first of his kind.  A true pinnacle of cyberhuman evolution.  An exemplar of the most creative technology ever conceived.  A mesh of metal and meat, perfect in every way.  Except one.  He is uncontrollable.  Even now, teams of our finest hunters are tracking down even the vaguest of rumours.  But until he decides to step into the daylight, we may sit and wait.

The problems started with permission, or the lack thereof.  Our scientists presented hours of testimony, studies and deductions to the relevant authorities but the Ethics Board turned down all our proposals.  But that one single denial should stand before the march of scientific discovery was anathema to us.  Completely unthinkable.  We knew better than they.  We were Cerberus. We would not be constrained by their cowardice and superstition. But now, I fear that the history books will hold the judgment.  And that it will not be in our favor.
