Having just bought Dean's 'A Big Little Life' book about Trixie, I was happy to have just seen a Bliss To You calendar on play.com just now (in the UK). Just bought myself one - they're only £5. I don't have the Bliss To You book, but I couldn't resist that for my desk!
Howdy. First off an intro to me.... I am just about to turn 18, am female and live in the UK. I have been a avid Dean Koontz fan for many years (as well as horror authors like Shaun Hutson and Richard Laymon, these 3 are my greats...) I have read many novels by him - with my favourites going to Watchers, Velocity and The Good Guy. I even liked Demon Seed, but was disspointed it was so short!!!
Watchers though - what a book. Even Dean Koontz in his afterword states that he gets sooooo many people saying to him what a great book it was. Dam it had everything...
Now I have bought one more of his books - Dragon Tears. To be honest, I bought it because I wanted another one of his books on my shelf, not really so much for the plot. So could you tell me, is it a good read? Is it as suspensful as some of his other novels...?
I also bought The Darkest Evening of the Year, which looks really good, and I am planning on reading that shortly.
So I know that I can't really call myself a true Koontz fan if I hadn't read the Odd series. So recently I picked up the first book and I just finished "Odd Thomas".
WARNING: Spoiler behind the cut... do not enter if you have not read it ( Collapse )
I'm having issues remembering which book this was. I'm 99.9% positive it was a Dean Koontz book, but I can't recall which one ... it's also quite possible that I'm confusing two of his books thinking it was just the one ...
anyway, here is what I remember about it, ( Collapse )
I bought The Book of Counted Sorrows from the Koontz website and had it shipped to me from America. I was quite excited, as a collector. I just started reading it today and I am so disappointed. Honestly, I want to write to him and complain. Obviously it has all the verses in, which is fine, but the first half of the book is filled with what can only be described as utter poop! Pure filler.
It may just be me, cos I'm not a fan of Dean's "funny" writing. It just seems like he sat as his computer, drunk, and just typed a stream of consciousness and emailed it to his publisher.
Hio, new to this communtiy (and site) as well. I've read a ton of Koontz's books and I cannot name them all. My two favorites are the Odd Thomas series and the Moonlight Bay Trilogy (which isn't finshed...grr). Does anybody know when the Moonlgith Bay Trilogy will be finished? Or if ever. (Fear Nothing, Seize the Night) Same goes with the Frankenstien series. >.>
Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just joined this community today.
Just two days ago I finished Fear Nothing. I've actually read a number of Koontz books, but I read them like... 10 years ago. I just haven't been doing much reading. I can remember reading, Lighting, Whispers, Dark Secrets of the heart, Midnight, , December.. somethingorother... Gosh, I know there was more, I just can't remember any of them right now.
Anyway... Oh.. Mr. Murder... read that one too.
Anyway.. . just wanted to say hello. look forward to learning more about Mr. Koontz.
For anyone not on his mailing list, The Book of Counted Sorrows is now available to buy from the Dean Koontz Store on his website for $30. I just bought one! Woo! You can't buy it anywhere else (yet) and a collector's edition was done a few years ago which now goes for a LOT more, but is a lot fancier.
They also have posh signed versions of some of his other books there and other promotional stuffs.
And the newsletter reveals he also has a new doggy called Anna, an ex-companion dog like Trixie was.
Does anyone else still get tearful thinking about Trixie? :( (I still won't buy the stupid Trixie books though).
