Squire is a British street-level vigilante and side-kick to the Knight, as they are counterparts to Batman and Robin. The original Squire was Percy Sheldrake, squire of the Shining Knight during World War II. He later became the Knight himself, and made his son Cyril Sheldrake his new Squire. Beryl Hutchinson is the third Squire, after Cyril took over the title of Knight. When Beryl likewise inherited the mantle of her mentor, she took on Amina Eluko as her Squire.
The character has been associated with the Club of Heroes, Global Guardians, Knights Inc. Ultramarine Corps and Young Allies. Squire was created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang, first appearing in Batman #62. (1950)
