The Source is an aspect of The Presence; it stands alongside concepts such as The Hand, The Voice, The Light of Creation, and the The Deep Change. He is the partner of Mother Entity, the great energy behind creation and is the "source" of all that exists, acting as the limitless energy from which all life sprang forth in the Multiverse, revered by the New Gods. He uses the Hand of Fire to communicate with the New Gods and occasionally those connected with them, like Superman and, in one situation, Renee Montoya. The Source was created by Jack Kirby, first appearing in New Gods #1. (1971)
There is a separate character called the Source, an alien conqueror who is the progenitor of the edible substance "newfu". He was introduced in the episode "Employee of the Month" of Teen Titans created by Alex Soto, Rob Hoegee, and Glen Murakami. (2005)
