Andromeda (Laurel Gand) is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th Century. Her Daxamite physiology gives her incredible powers in yellow sunlight, although she is vulnerable to lead. Glorith used Andromeda to replace the position of Supergirl in history when Supergirl was erased from existence. Her cousin is Valor, which mirrors Supergirl's relationship to Superboy. Brainiac 5 was her romantic partner for a long time, although she eventually married Rond Vidar. In Reboot Legion continuity, Andromeda is a member of the terrorist White Triangle group until she learns to become a hero.
A much earlier Andromeda was a princess of ancient Aethiopia according to Greek mythology. Condemned by the gods to be sacrificed to a sea monster to save her country, she was rescued by the hero Perseus, whom she married; for her courage, Andromeda was later transformed into a constellation.
Andromeda (Laurel Gand) was created by Keith Giffen, Mary Bierbaum, Tom Bierbaum, and Al Gordon, first appearing in Legion of Super-Heroes (Volume 4) #6 (1990).
