Anyone knows where this image is from and if it's available in higher res ? I've got it from the Plasma Pool, but even the site owner didn't know anymore where it was from.

A Photograph

I've just stumbled across a marvelous photo that cannot be left unseen by any David's admirer. As I understand, it's a "Scanners" promo photograph.

By the way, I have one more beautiful photo of Cronenberg - the one he's seen emerging through a torn photo. If somene expresses a wish to see it I will show it here.
And as far as the news are thin I goad you to post nice David's photos.
Does anyone have a picture of him with Clive Barker???

I hope this is allowed. I created an RP revolving around directors and promoting it in RP promotion communities doesn't seem to work, since no one on them has heard of any directors, so I thought I'd go to sites for people who know something about movies. The community is the_crf and it's just a faux celebrity RP revolving around directors. Cronenberg and lots of other good ones are available.

Cronenberg to Write a Novel

Cronenberg Writes a Novel

Penguin Canada has talked David Cronenberg, in mid-career revival thanks to A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, into writing a novel. No title, no storyline. Set in Toronto (partially). Due out in 2010.

Nicole Winstanley, Executive Editor at Penguin Group Canada has acquired a debut novel from internationally acclaimed film director David Cronenberg in an exciting pre-empt from agent Andrew Wylie of the Wylie Agency. Cronenberg, best known for his work in the body horror genre, is one of the few Canadian directors who can claim an international legion of fans. His critically acclaimed films include The Dead Zone (1983), The Fly (1986), Dead Ringers (1988 ), Naked Lunch (1991), M. Butterfly (1993), Crash (1996), eXistenZ (1999), Spider (2002), A History of Violence (2005) and Eastern Promises (2007). In 1999, Cronenberg was inducted onto Canada's Walk of Fame. In 2002, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. In 2006, he was awarded the Cannes Film Festival’s lifetime achievement award and was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Winstanley says, “I wrote David Cronenberg several months ago to inquire about whether or not he’d consider writing a novel. His films demonstrate a deep understanding of the human condition that could translate into fiction brilliantly so I’m delighted that he has decided to take this challenge on and I’m really looking forward to working with him.” David Cronenberg was born and lives in Toronto, and graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in literature after switching from science. He released his first feature film (Shivers) in 1975 and over the arc of his career has gone beyond the horror genre to explore themes including the paranormal, the intrusion of visual media, biology, technology, identity and the psychology of delusion. The untitled novel is not being described at this time but is partially set in Toronto and scheduled for publication in early 2010. Said Cronenberg last week in Toronto: "I've literally been waiting fifty years to do this. I'm excited."

Just curious. I would never look at it from such astandpoint. An except from "Horror Films" by James Marriot:
Koji Suzuki's novel Ring was published in 1991 and quickly became a bestseller. The novel is substantially different from Nakata's film: Kazuyuki Asakawa, its protagonist, is a married man, and his associate Ryuji Takayama is an unsavoury character who may be a rapist. The famous scene of Sadako climbing out of a TV screen is also missing from the book: Nakata has credited) for inspiring it.

Eastern Promises

Eastern Promises opens in limited release tomorrow!

I was a little surprised, as usually I get wind of Cronenberg's projects while they're in production and I hadn't heard a thing about this until they mentioned it on NPR this week.

What's the buzz? Anyone seen a preview or advance screening?
