Writer's Block: Legends of Rock
There are a few concerts that go down in musical history—Altamont, Woodstock, Live Aid, the Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds tour—as legendary experiences. What live show stands as legend in your own experience?
Sadly, I haven't been to that many concerts. I can actually count them on one hand. Basic reasons for this is not because I don't like music. 1) money when I was kid was very, very tight. No money for concerts. In fact, my first trip to Disney will be next month...at 31. 2) the concert opportunities in my community have been extremely limited. It's only been in the last 10 or so years that more famous, interesting bands/singers have started coming here. To my recollection anyway.
And since I'm somewhat of a masochist, I'm going to list the concerts I've attended - in order...
1. Neil Diamond
2. Randy Travis
3. Clay Aiken
4. Chris Isaak
I also saw David Copperfield. And though not technically a concert, it was a live performance.
Now, for the answer to the question. The concert that stuck out most for me?
Chris Isaak. It was very fun and he got down with the audience. Joked with us and his band. I felt like I could sing along at times too. That was last summer. I fully intend to go to another concert of his if he ever comes back this way again. He didn't this year, but there's always next year.
He also did a meet and greet after the show which as totally awesome! He shook my hand and joked with me which had me on a high on the drive all the way home!
