I'm sorry, is this... Is this implying there's no DYE in that rug? All raw wool in its natural colours? She fucking bred the sheep to get the colours she wanted over the course of ten years!? Holy shit.
Edit: this has gotten a huge amount of traction (fibrearts tumblr is a, uh, tight-knit community it seems!) so I am adding this note to state that I checked Lola Cody's website and can confirm: There is no dye in her work. She uses exclusively hand-spun Churro wool sheared from her home-raised sheep flock. It's all natural colours!
[Image description: the first image is an informative illustration depicting three flock cameras mounted on a pole. The cameras have several green laser beams pointing into their lenses. The text says "You should never use laser pointers on flock cams" in all caps.
The second image is a screenshot of tags that say "remember that their AI facial recognition software is now much more advanced and can read body language as well, they're developing more enhanced detection that can see what your body looks like even with baggy/bulky clothes, and regular medical masks are usually not enough to prevent the system from recognizing you, also don't fucking take your phone with you or have it Anywhere Near You if you do this, don't bring your car. ESPECIALLY don't bring your car if you have a newer model. the ideal situation is to approach it from a direction that has zero flock cameras in a very wide radius, so you can leave your car somewhere and they won't be able to see that you drove up to it, they are prosecuting people for fucking with flock cameras. take this seriously. be smart. be safe. oh oh final note. they're also using gait detection algorithms so ur gonna wanna like. change the way you walk somehow if u walk up to it, I think I remember hearing that it's good enough that walking in typical heels won't work so you should get creative, we live in a panopticon torture labyrinth and I hate it here. be safe." End ID.]
It also deeply bothers me how many people pull the "okay now ask the average African American how they feel about gay and trans people" as a gotcha, to try to act as though Black people specifically hate and are oppressing queer and trans people (and as if we just, AREN'T those things too).
Buddy ask the average White American how they feel about gay and trans people, since we're taking the census and the piss. Hell, look at the people in charge currently pushing anti trans and anti queer legislation and tell me how they identify. Look at the racial demographics of our last election and tell me who you think is out here going rah rah for the gays and theys.
The audacity to suggest that my entire community is homophobic (I.e., you spend zero time around Black queer and trans folk) but somehow yours is worthy of a closer, more nuanced look... Really some OG white supremacy, actually! "Those savages, they don't understand things like gender and sexuality, they're just angry uncultured brutes!" -mentality shared between 1700s race scientists and 2026 You, apparently.
Some folks was really out here lying with those #BLM pins 😭

Some additional data from Pew Research Center shows that:
- By 2017, 51% of Black Americans were supportive of gay marriage, up from 26% in 2007. That's a difference of 25% in 10 years.
- The thing is, that increase is practically identical to the change in support among white people for that decade, who rose from 38% to 64%, for a total difference of 26% in 10 years.
We see that regardless of how or why Black Americans showed lower support before, they have been actively participating in constructing our new social values at the same pace as other racial groups (or better).
So, combined with that survey from the NBJC that points to an amenable perspective among Black Americans when the proper narrative on the topic is established (a narrative that isn't told from white perspectives of acceptance, but from a place of Black commonality, solidarity, and empathy for suffering)... there's honestly plenty of reason to hypothesize that Black support will continue to grow even as white support falters in the current political environment. :)
I guess we'll see, won't we? 🤷🏼
Do the AI people know that the rest of us who never got on the bandwagon are still doing everything the same way we always have
The AI boom has changed literally nothing about my day to day life except I now have to work harder to get access to reliable information, all the important admin work is being done wrong, and I keep getting DMs letting me know the perfectly ordinary and plausible photo I liked was actually a fake image generated by a fascist to generate views and churn out ad money for the purpose of funding their tree-powered puppy-flushing toilet
I don’t think so, they all seem to think we’re complaining about AI while “benefiting” from it. With all their posts like “oh really think about it, could you get through your day without it??” Like bro what. What are you all talking about?
I don’t think we’re rick rolling each other enough anymore. 1. it CANNOT die out 2. this under saturated market is perfect for unsuspecting victims who’ve been lulled into a false sense of security. be the person you hate. bring back the dastardly link
someone actually studied the falling Rick Roll rate for their Ph.D dissertation recently and published the paper
okay but this made me wonder if there was actually any academic literature on rickrolling and YES THERE IS this is a paper about rickrolling WITHIN academic literature. As in, studies that attempt to rickroll the people reading them. Best part is no one is going to believe me and click that link even though it’s 100% true.
My friend's book is mentioned in this paper!!
There is no earthy way of convincing anyone that the rickroll study link is real. But for what it's worth. It is
I have a new goal in my almost-finished PhD dissertation.
Second link's good guys, truly
Teaboot's right, there is basically nothing on earth that could convince me to click the second link. I genuinely believe it might be real, but i'm not touching it.
listen to me. i do not care how old you are or how silly you think something is. in this world you have to take the things that make you happy and be all about them. it’s the only way you’re gonna survive.
this is why i’m absolutely throwing a tiny birthday party for my plush possum Turnpike in two days bc august 18th is her birthday. she’s gonna be 1
hi, I didn't know if this post would matter to folks, and then i got on this morning and saw that people actually had this post cued for yesterday. you made me very emotional so thank you for that. 🖤 on Turnpike's third birthday this year, we took her to the amusement park! four dif friends drove, flew, and rode across country to do so.
we had so much fun I only managed one picture in front of the carousel. happy third birthday, Turnpike!!
The UNSC spent the entire Human-Covenant War losing. Any victory was pyrrhic, any reprieve a delay of the inevitable.
The only reason humanity survived and technically "won" is because the Covenant imploded into civil war when the entire foundation of their shared religion was pulled out from under them; and humanity allied themselves with the winning faction.
Also, genuinely: you are not giving US Soldiers a Spartan-level advantage. That is not possible. They have coated bones like fucking Wolverine. That is not currently possible technology. It was barely possible with their sci-fi tech, they killed half of them in surgery.
Please do not kill half the US military by giving them sci-fi surgery, that's over a million people. Killing a million people is bad.
Not when they're soldiers!
Specifically American soldiers
ANOTHER HALF MILLION DEAD AMERICAN SOLDIERS PLEASE
