Table Progress Tracking: How It's Going
Hey everyone!
A little while ago, we introduced a way for wiki tables to be more than just references: progress tracking.
With this, fans of your wiki can check off their own progress against a goal in editor-created tables, save it to their account, and come back later to pick up where they left off. This can be things like achievements in their game, collectables they're stacking, secret items, missions, there are a LOT of different applications that we've seen. We've even seen users tracking episodes for TV shows they're watching!
This feature is private, personal, and it turns tables into something readers actively use.
Since that first announcement, we've seen the feature take off in a big way.
Progress tracking is now live across more than a tho…
Introducing our new accessibility checklist
Hey folks! We've been making a big push with web accessibility this year, with the release of Fandom's accessibility statement, new resources and monthly Office Hours in Discord, and the Hackathon which took place in July. These have been essential in spreading the word on web accessibility, which is to ensure everyone can access content on websites, regardless of disability.
This is super important as making a wiki accessible opens doors to so many more users. Having good alt text is essential for screenreader users to understand what's happening on pages. Keyboard accessibility helps those with physical disabilities who can't use a mouse. Having easy-to-read link text is just helpful for all readers, so they know where a link is taking them…
Policy Updates - Community Creation and Notability
Hello, sunshine!
A few months ago, I mentioned my work on policies & guidelines. In that blog, I announced our newly created Admin Code of Conduct, & I am here again to talk about (pause for suspense) more policy updates! (Are you excited??)
All platform policies & guidelines share the same goal: to make Fandom a welcoming, sustainable home for communities of all kinds. To support that goal, we’ve updated our Community Creation Policy (newly renamed to Community Creation and Content Policy) & introduced a new companion page: the Notability Guidelines.
- Policies are rules that must be followed. The Community Creation and Content Policy sets the standards for when and how a new wiki can be created on Fandom along with what content is acceptable.
- G…

New Measures to Reduce Bot Activity
Hi everyone,
We’ve recently noticed a sharp increase in bot activity on Fandom, particularly on our Revisions pages. This has placed unexpected strain on our servers, disrupted analytics and SEO, and negatively affected site performance.
To address this, we’ve rolled out some changes as of today.
- On History, the following will no longer be clickable for logged-out users:
- Versions (prev/cur)
- Direct links to specific revisions
- The Special:Contributions and Special:RecentChanges pages will now be hidden from logged-out users and will display a message prompting them to log in.
We hope these changes will significantly reduce the type of bot traffic causing these issues and help stabilize performance.
We’re also working on additional safeguards, includ…
Technical Updates: September 5, 2025
Hey hey, lovelies. The first week of September means for a lot of people the first week back to school, but for us it means the first Technical Updates blog of September! If you're new, hello, I'm Lostris, the Senior Product Support Manager bringing you the updates on the user-facing work our dev teams have been doing. Every other week, a tech blog is released with a selection of the most relevant user-facing bugs that either got fixed or are being worked on to be fixed, as well as some notable changes or perhaps experiments that we're running. Aside from that, this is also a great opportunity for you to reach us to ask questions about certain features or issues you may be experiencing and would like some answers to. Remember though, if yo…
Admin Code of Conduct - Workshops Update
Hello all!
Earlier this year, we introduced the Admin Code of Conduct, an admin-focused policy to help make sure communities stay welcoming, respectful, and fair for everyone. Since then, we’ve been getting deeper into the policy with our Fandom Stars, holding special workshops back in June where we talked through the details, explained the “why” behind some of the trickier parts, & answered their questions. The conversations were great, & the feedback was incredibly helpful. (Thank you for your help, Stars!!)
Now we’re opening the workshops up to everyone!
We’ll be hosting two public workshops in the Fandom Discord:
- Tuesday, September 9 at 2 PM (Central Time)
- Thursday, September 11 at 10 AM (Central Time)
Note: I am scheduling the workshops for …

Eyo, my lovely people! Welcome to the second tech blog of August during which I'll give you all an overview of a selection of the user-facing bug tickets, platform changes, and other relevant user notes of the past two weeks. If there are specific things you'd like to receive an update on or have something to report yourself, please leave us a comment so we may investigate and let you know!
- It is no longer possible to add additional text to the body parameter when creating a poll on Discussions, bypassing content type limits.
- Tables using
panel aims to provide readers with suggestions on the next page to read. However, sometimes no widgets will be available on low traffic wikis, and the drawer just appears empty and gives the impression of b…
gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 - Biggest Reveals and Highlights
Hello there! Some of you may know me from being around your wikis, but for those that don't, I'm Lucas, a Community Manager for gaming wikis at Fandom. I've been around wikis in myriad ways for many years, but I believe this is my first ever staff blog here at Community Central. There's a first time for everything!
gamescom, the biggest gaming event of the year, has been taking place this week, and its Opening Night Live was filled with game announcements and brand new trailers for quite a few upcoming projects.
Since we have many lovely video game wikis out there covering these topics, I'm absolutely going to take the opportunity to share them here. If you know of any others or want to share any of our own top moments from the showcase, fee…
