In Person
Utility customers can pay with cash, check, credit, or debit card in person at City Hall at 1338 Rumsey Avenue. City Hall is open from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, excepting City holidays. A drop box is available to the left of the front door at City Hall for after-hours payments.
- If using the drop box, please detach and include the lower portion of your billing statement with your payment to ensure it is posted correctly to your account. Be sure to include your utility account number in the memo line if paying by check.
Over the Phone
Customers can call the Utility Billing Division at (307) 527-7511, Option 1 to pay their bill over the phone.
By Mail
Customers receiving paper statements can mail their payments in the remittance envelopes enclosed with their monthly billing statements. These should be sent to: City of Cody, PO Box 2200, Cody, WY, 82414-2200.
- If you are mailing a utility payment, please detach and include the lower portion of your statement in the envelope to ensure your payment is posted correctly to your account. Be sure to include your utility account number in the memo line if paying by check.
Online
If you have internet access and an email address, you can pay your utility bill online. The City of Cody is partnered with a third-party platform called Xpress Bill Pay to offer our customers convenient online access to their billing statements and a variety of secure payment options. See the next section for additional details on signing up for this service.
Xpress Bill Pay
After signing up for utilities, you will receive an initial paper statement in the mail with your account number showing in a box in the top left corner.
To register for Xpress Bill Pay, link your utility account to it, make an online payment, and/or set up an AutoPay, please follow the instructions found in this flyer. If you need assistance with the registration process, the Xpress Bill Pay support team can be reached at (801) 692-0379.
- Xpress Bill Pay (XBP) is separate from the City's internal billing software so customers who choose to remain on paper statements after setting up an AutoPay with XBP will not see any indication on their monthly bills of whether the AutoPay is active or not.
- We recommend that our customers with XBP AutoPays opt-in to paperless billing so that they can easily view their account and manage their payments online.
Benefits of signing up for XBP include the ability to:
- Pay your bill anytime--day or night--and print a receipt right from your computer
- Receive your statements by noon the business day immediately following when bills are issued
- Receive monthly emails alerting when statements are available
- View up to a year of billing history online
The information on XBP is encrypted on a secure system that is PCI-compliant, and all confidential transactions are protected with secure 128-bit SSL encryption.
Paperless Billing
Once you have signed up for XBP , you can log in at any time to manage your paperless billing preferences.
- Click on "View Bill" for the account in question, then locate the button showing as "Paperless (Off)."
- To no longer receive paper statements, click the link so that it changes to "Paperless (On)." Reverse this process to change from paperless back to paper statements.
Moving and New Account Details
Any time you apply for utilities at a new location within City limits, you are assigned a new utility account number for that service address. Customers who have recently moved should be aware of this when remitting payments.
Bank Bill Pays
If you have been paying for utilities using a Bank Bill Pay that you have personally set up to be sent from your bank, you will need to work with them to cancel the outdated Bank Bill Pay which references the old utility account number after the final balance on the terminated account has been paid in full.
You will also need to set up a new Bank Bill Pay referencing your new utility account number. This ensures payments are posted correctly and helps avoid late fees on your new account.
Xpress Bill Pay and AutoPays
If you have been paying your monthly utilities online using Xpress Bill Pay , you will need to link your new utility account number to your existing Xpress Bill Pay registration to be able to continue viewing and/or paying your bills online.
Once completed, you can also set up a new AutoPay in Xpress Bill Pay and modify your paperless billing preferences for the new account if desired.
Overview
The City of Cody offers a "budget billing" option known as the Equal Payment Plan program. It is designed to help customers budget for their utility bills by paying a flat amount each month that is periodically recalculated based on their recent account activity.
Eligibility
To be eligible, a customer must have a minimum of six consecutive months of service at the same service address and their account must be at a $0 balance.
Application
Customers can either complete the Utility Equal Payment Plan Agreement form at City Hall at 1338 Rumsey Avenue or fill it out online.
Program Details
- If the agreement is granted, the customer will receive notification via mail or email (depending on how they applied). They must pay the equal pay amount by the due date each month, beginning with their next issued bill.
- If they fail to make their full monthly payment in any month, disconnect procedures will result. If two disconnect notices are issued during a 12-month period, the customer will be removed from the program, and the entire balance on their account becomes due for payment immediately.
- Recalculations occur in January and July each year. It is the customer's responsibility to pay attention to these recalculations and ensure their monthly payment amount is adjusted accordingly.
