Confused by your body? Do you sometimes wish that you were barefoot and pregnant? Wanting to settle down? Raise a family? It doesn't matter whether you can conceive, whether you are young or old, man or woman. Whether this is just an unreachable or impractical fantasy that you keep coming back to. You are welcome if you already have children and want more!
If you find your mind wondering about the amazing possibilities of bringing another life into this world, then come here. Enjoy. Rant about your cluckiness without concerning your SO, friends or whoever. Even if you feel your biological clock ticking without your permission. I know that I (qamar) woke up on my 26th birthday and suddenly I was kid-crazy. I have no idea what happened.
Frustrated with society's pressure to be a career woman? Angry that men are narrowly stereotyped or that queer needs are not recognized by our society? In your 20s and 30s and trying to figure out why having kids is so undervalued? Do you feel drawn to the idea of throwing in your job and owning a house and have lots of babies? Irrational, wonderful, beautiful. Rant here, get it off your chest. Talk about your hopes, dreams and secret 'forbidden' desires.
This is a nonsexist, queer friendly community. We welcome singles, couples of any type (e.g. heterosexual, homosexual, queer etc...)and transgender people. There is no standards for wanting kids. Please respect other people's feelings.
This is not a community to bitch and complain about things that rational people can disagree about, e.g. naming preferences. Please stick to the old-fashioned maxim, "if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all". That's what I want from my clucky support-group, support. If I wanted confrontation I'd go to a different lj community.
If someone says something you disagree with, ignore them or discuss the idea in a non-judgmental tone. E.g. 'why do you think that?' or 'that's a different perspective to mine'. No one has perfect access to the Truth. Your opinions are just that, opinions.
However, if someone really offends you, feel free to email me at qamar at livejournal dot com and I'll look into it. Please do not turn your sense of righteousness into a flame-war.
I will delete all comments with an offensive icon.
Note: Not many people in the USA or UK seems to know the term 'clucky'. Well, in Australia, we use the term to describe women who are experiencing mother hen desires. E.g. they are clucking like a chicken with her eggs. Like 'broody' or 'nesting'. It can be a positive or a negative term, depending on your situation. It can also be used to describe men or anyone else who desire a brood to look after. :)
