Sad News

probably everyone on this community has heard, but I'm posting anyways:

---Initial post
Today on the trip down to Westercon there has been a deadly accident. We
don't have all the details yet but Roberta "Bert" Carlson was killed in a
rollover accident. The family has been told and will keep me informed and I
will keep you informed. They thank us all for there support, but please ask
if you have and sympathy emails you want to send please send them to me at
genecon@hotmail.com and I will get them to the family.

Also in the car was William Boyde, Nez, and Howazor. They are doing ok and
have been released for the hospital. Nick Navota was also in the car and is
being flown to a hospital with a crushed hand and there going to see if they
can save the hand. Bobbie and Jerry are on the seine with them.

If you have any questions you can email me at genecon@hotmail.com or you can
call me at 206-304-4531.

(Sad in my heart for the loss or a great friend)

----Update
Hi All

Nick is out of surgery and is pretty much ok.

He has lost 3 figures on his right hand and they have reconnected his right
figure and thumb on his left hand and they will see if the body doesn't
reject them.

Like I said before the others are ok and only have bumps and bruises. They
are very shaken but they have all (with Bobbie and Jerry) got to Vegas.

More later... Please post this to list or LJ

Birthday Party

Birthday party for me the weekend after Norwescon. Saturday, starting around 5pm. You can come early, I have plenty of space to camp and crash, I have 2 acres. Let me know if you want to come, and I'll get you directions.

(re)Introducing myself

I'm Kate Mulligan, aka Mom Burnout. I joined Clan Burnout at the veeeeery beginning. (I was the sixth. Burnout said, "hey, I'm starting a clan, ya wanna be my mom?" and I said, "well, if the shoe fits..." But whatever.) I also went briefly by Nearly Naked Burnout, but that's a story for another time...

I went away to hell, (Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC), about 9 years ago, and returned to the area a few years ago. But I'm only now getting back in touch with my old crowd. Went to Norwescon, saw many of you - yay! Oh, and I'm dating Drew, aka Latras (aka once upon a time King Royal, if you remember back that far!), so if you were @ Norwescon, and don't know me, I was the grinning appendage at the end of his left hand!

It's great to be back, and I look forward to seeing even more old and new friends in the future.

ConComCon 14

Hi there!  C-Cubed 14 is June 8-10th of this year.  Now entering its fourteenth year, ConComCon is the best place in the Pacific Northwest to network with other local convention runners, exchange ideas on how to make conventions run more effectively, and talk about fandom in general. Whether you have been running conventions for years, or you are completely new to convention running and you want to get your foot in the door, come on down and join us!  The C-Cubed committee has been working hard on creating fun and useful programming for guests this year.  Our theme this year is So You Want to Run a Convention?”  Programming topics include:

·         How to successfully interact with hotel personnel during contract negotiations, the convention planning process as well as the convention itself.

·         What makes a successful con Hospitality? Room party? Convention bid party? How do these events differ? How are they similar?

·         Technology: striking a balance between the new and cool and maximum usability and access for your potential membership

And much, much MORE!  C-Cube’s real strength is in providing a forum for con-runners from all over the Pacific Northwest to get together and swap shop talk. Have a problem? Someone else present may have or have had the same problem and can offer possible solutions as well as sympathy!

We’re located at the Holiday Inn Seattle - SeaTac Airport, 17338 International Blvd., Seattle WA 98188.  Tel: 206-248-1000 or 1-800-465-4329. Room Rates: Single/Doubles: $94.00 a night

You will need to sign up again with the new forum software. This new software is more secure, we were plagued by spammers, this is faster and should get rid of that problem. Also post a profile in the profile section and send me a private message and I will add you to the Clan Burnout Member group.
