Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Well the Celtic Festival was a lot of fun. Danced to Gaelic Storm who are really quite awesome, and have some great lyrics. Check on Punjab Patty if you want a laugh.

Sorry no one else went, but alas, next time. Next big thing I know of is Scottish Weekend at Rennfest in MD.

Potomac Celtic Festival

The Potomac Celtic Festival, in Leesburg, is coming up. It's June 11-12, and there will be food, music, dancing, and other fun things.  I know a couple of the bands who are playing, one is from Scotland and I love them, Battlefield Band. The other is Gaelic Storm, whom you've probably seen but don't realize it.  They are the band that plays in steerage in "Titanic."

Anyways, I'm definitely going, and would be up for meeting up with people from the community who want to go, so let me know.

Also, ran into beckimus_prime last night. It was cool to finally meet her in person.

GMU Website

So, I looked at the GMU website for information about starting a new club, and the bad news is that we have to wait until next spring to actually get started because two representatives have to attend information sessions during the previous semester. So we'll need to go in October of next year. Dates for those have not yet been announced.

We also need at least eight interested students, who have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

We also need a full-time faculty advisor.

So, any suggestions on any of the above?

On the Thursday night performance of Riverdance, there is a PPP, a Pre-Performance Preview, which is a free demonstration or talk usually about the show. If people don't want to spend money for the show, that is also a fun event.

Riverdance also usually holds a master class to teach their main routine, which is a lot of fun. I shall investigate further.

Hello everyone,

Just some thoughts about some events that we could go to, or other activities.

This summer, Riverdance is coming to Wolf Trap, which is located in Vienna, just down the road from GMU. So if you are in the area this summer, that might be a good option especially if you like Irish step-dancing.  It is playing June 2-5 and lawn tickets range from $16-20.  That would be the most fun because we could have a picnic first, get to know each other, and as an employee of the park, I get great parking :)

August-October is the Maryland Renaissance Festival, and they always have a Scottish weekend, which is tons of fun, lots of bagpipes and kilts and such. That weekend will be after school starts so that might be more feasible as a first event depending on where everyone spends their summers.

Mar sin leibh an drasda,

(Ta ta for now)
