Adobe Digital Editions on Linux
May. 6th, 2018 11:14 pmWhen I last bought ebooks (a couple of weeks ago) ebooks.com told me: "Important: If you already have Adobe Digital Editions, you must update to the latest version before downloading this ebook. Adobe just implemented a security update which renders all older versions of their app unworkable."
Given how much pain it was to get this set up the first time, and how carefully I have been balancing the shonky arrangement of software to stop it breaking, I was really not looking forward to upgrading. But! They also provided instructions for installing Adobe DE under linux, as follows:
(1) install Wine
(2) grab this file and run it: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403051/attachments/setup.exe
Unexpectedly, this file Just Works. All happy again.
