Things which have been saving my sanity, in no particular order:
* we adopted Jacob, he lives in our house now (for a few hours on a Monday)
* books, notably _A Memory Called Empire_, _The Angel of the Crows, _Gideon the Ninth_, all of which are excellent
* Pokemon Go
* the garden game
* wine
* making masks, which makes me feel useful and gets me out of the house (to the postbox but then I tend to keep walking once they're posted): https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/809182992/handmade-reusable-face-masks-adult-size and https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/840455801/handmade-reusable-face-masks-adult-size
* The Quacks of Qedlinburg
* art plans
* Worldcon (I hope)

Date: 2020-07-18 11:39 am (UTC)_The Angel of the Crows_ is about as scary as the original Sherlock Holmes stories, with the caveats that:
(a) also they investigate Jack The Ripper, so there's a little bit more gore (but dealt with in a police procedural kind of way rather than a horror kind of way)
(b) it's set in a world with demons and werewolves and vampires and so on, so e.g. the hound of the Baskervilles might be a real hell hound rather than a ghost story and a fake (not going to spoil this because it's a very different story when that's the case, and the interesting parts of the puzzle lie in different places) .
If that sounds like stuff you can cope with, they I highly recommend it, it is so amazingly *kind* to its characters and I loved it.
