FAQ

Why did you tag [post] as [__]?

Usually, it’s for one of these reasons:

-someone asked me to

-I feel that it deserves that tag

-It’s tagged for my organizational purposes.

I have xkit set up to automatically tag everything I reblog by date, type of post, and who I reblogged it from. This way it makes me much easier to find posts I later on if I wasn’t sure how to tag them later. I also have certain tags for certain topics, and some of them may make not much sense at first, e.g, tagging things related to the Circle in Dragon Age as “circle of maggots”.

I have a question about Judaism.

I will gladly answer to the best of my knowledge, however, I am not as vastly educated on scripture and Talmud as I should be.

If it’s a question on writing Jewish characters, you’ll probably want to peruse writingwithcolor’s tag on the subject, and ask them. However, they do take awhile to answer, but their followerbase is much more extensive than mine, and are more likely to have the answer you’re looking for already, or get additional commentary.

If it’s a question on converting or returning to Jewish roots, I recommend Amy Scheinerman’s website and Aish.com as resources for beginning knowledge, and jewishvirtuallibrary.org for more in depth readings.

What is ay'lonit?

Ay'lonit is a term used in the Talmud to describe someone who is identified as female at birth but develops male characteristics as they grow. It was originally used to refer to intersex people, but a growing number of people use it to describe trans experiences as well as intersex ones. I use this term to describe myself because it acknowledges both the cultural aspect of my gender, and the fact that I did not always know I was trans, and perhaps have not always been male. I think of myself as male but not a man. I also accept “transmasculine” and “nonbinary man” as words to describe my gender.

Actually, nonbinary people-

Have existed in Western thought as recently as the 1900s and have a history going back thousands of years? No? Go away.

Where else can I find you?

I hold accounts on dreamwidth and Archiveofourown under the same name I do here. I also have discord and instagram accounts which I give out at my discretion. I am also a regular attendee and volunteer of BaltiCon.
