I translated a few poems by Vladimir Gandelsman, a contemporary Russian author who lives in New York. He uses rhyme beautifully in the original (you will see my attempts to render it without making the poem sound hurdy-gurdy in English).

English is not my native language, and any feedback from native speakers with a fine sensitivity to the language would be terrific.

I have some letters from family who lived in Vienna during and before WW2 until they died. Can you help me translate? I don't speak german, but need to know what they say so that I can write a one act play centering around them for my family history final project.

I'm majoring in language studies right now and for the graduation requirement we can either write a linguistic research paper, do an exam, or do a translation. Of course I'd rather do a translation, but it involves finding a professor who is willing to supervise you.
I finally found a really sweet old lady who agreed to help and who asked me to do a sample translation for her from any French text to English. So I did a translation of the following paragraph. It comes from the book "Les Bonbons Chinois" by Mian Mian. It was actually originally written in Chinese, but since I don't speak Chinese I bought the French version last August because I've been wanting to read it for a while and because it would help me with my French! Anyway, this is one of the few french books that I have in my collection, so I'm using it for my sample (I'm not actually going to use it for my project... this is just a sample). Any feed back would be greately appreciated! And also if anyone could recommend some good French books that haven't been translated into English, it would be greatly appreciated! I need to find something soon...
