Look, in the OOC Comm! It's the monthly Clock Box Test Drive Meme!

To answer some questions we've seen sometimes: You do not need an invitation to play on the TDM, you do not need a free character slot if you're in the game, multiples are welcome, we won't get mad if you accidentally ignore something from our setting docs, and you are welcome to make threads game canon once both characters are in the game, if both players are amenable. Existing players will accumulate CP for TDM threads, but they will not count towards check-in.

AS OF OCTOBER 2016 WE HAVE A MOD INVITE SYSTEM: Players who accumulate 10 comments on the Test Drive Meme may PM the mods with proofs to receive an invitation to the game. Simply send your name and your links to the relevant threads.

Here's a list of locations that we would love to see potential applicants experimenting with! Or as always, feel free to invent your own.

Onto the prompts:

ONE: RED THREAD OF FATE )

TWO: ROM-COM MEET CUTE )

THREE: ANTI-VALENTINES )

While no location can be said to be strictly "new", amidst all the abandoned places and impossibly large areas some do seem to be more popular lately that had previously gone unnoticed. The Locations List has been updated with several places and we highly encourage prospective characters to help us test them out by using them as a setting for one of the following:

1. Tropes ahoy! The Clock seems to have a fascination for watching how different characters get out of sticky situations, especially when there's more than one person in the mix. In this case, your character is trapped — in an elevator, maybe, or the wax museum, or the hedge maze. Wherever it is, the doors aren't working properly, or aren't there at all. Fortunately, there's someone there to wait it out with! However you approach the difficulties you’re now in, the Clock thrives on communication and connection; the sooner you reach out, the sooner you can get things back to normal.

2. You've made a mess. You (probably) didn't mean to, but whether they're your natural powers or something the Clock has gifted you for a day, you've lost control and rained chaos and destruction down! What have you wrought — and how will you deal with the aftermath? Use your judgment and don’t break the game, but otherwise: the world is your oyster, and that oyster now has laser eyes.

3. You're lost, lost, hopelessly lost. You've been wandering these rooms and worlds and corridors for who knows how long, climbing awkwardly through windows and hiking across fields, and you've yet to come upon a single creature comfort or even another person. But just when you thought you'd been left completely to your own devices, you run into someone else in the most unexpected place. Maybe they can watch your back while you finally rest? Though it's hard to say if where you are is really appropriate for camping...

4. Share your thoughts?

Post a status update on the Lockbox app, Clockbox's in-game network. As noted in the link it's text-only and brevity is, as some guy somewhere once said, the soul of wit, but even a short statement can still generate a lot of response! Such as "I wished for chocolate and the latest issue of Vogue, and now I have a sheath dress made of cookies." Who could resist commenting on that?

5. Wildcard! Combine some elements of the above, or do your own thing entirely. The Clock can hold just about any location or offer any activity you can imagine; like with the previous prompt try not to tear open the sky or anything, but otherwise ...well, otherwise the sky's the limit! The ideally still intact sky.

(To answer some questions we've seen sometimes: You do not need an invitation to play on the TDM, you do not need a free character slot if you're in the game, and you are welcome to make threads game canon once both characters are in the game, if both players are amenable.)

1. Maybe you wished for it to rain and now everywhere you go the sprinkler system activates. Maybe you really wanted some uninterrupted peace and quiet and now all doors lead to silence and solitude. Whatever the situation, your wish has gone terribly awry, and you need another character’s help to resolve it. However you approach the difficulties you’re now in, the Clock thrives on communication and connection; the sooner you reach out, the sooner you can get things back to normal.

This prompt in particular encourages the use of the Lockbox App to contact others, if you're interested in experimenting with that! See also prompt #4.

2. Congratulations! The Clock has gifted you with an item designed to have a specific effect of your (the player’s) choosing. It could inspire a memory of someone long forgotten, it could remind a character of regrets in their past, it could even invoke terrible fear. Whatever it is, either you don’t want to deal with it on your own, or its effects are simply too big to hide.
(Nota bene: if you feel the object you choose might be triggering for others, please include that in the subject line of your response.)

3. For one day only, you’re a new and improved (or ...perhaps not so improved) version of yourself: you now have some kind of fledgling ability that definitely was not in your bag of tricks five seconds ago. Are you suddenly a water bender? Do your moods affect the weather? Does everything you touch grow fur? Use your judgment and don’t break the game, but otherwise: the world is your oyster, and that oyster now has laser eyes.
