Welcome to birls -
a community dedicated to androgynous/boyish/masculine females and those who don't let the stereotypes surrounding their sex define who they are.

Whether you're a tomboy or a butch dyke, a boi, genderqueer, or an androgyne, FTM or transgendered, or simply refuse to put a label on your identity... you're welcome here. Birl-admirers are welcome here, as well!

Themes:
There is currently no theme. Feel free to post any discussion topics related to gender and gender presentation, pictures, and so on. Look below if you'd like more ideas on what to post.

New themes are announced on the first of every month (or as close to it as possible) by the community moderators, and last all month long. Themed posts are not mandatory, but are just here for those of you who like an excuse to participate a little bit more.

To suggest a new theme for the next month or if you have any other feedback to share, please comment here.

What You Can Post:
• Introductory posts! Name, Age, Location, Identity... Whatever you feel comfortable telling us.
• Themed entries
• Pictures of yourself, all of your birly friends, and/or celebrity birls.
• Gushing about your favorite boyish girl, birl, etc.
• On-Topic stories, artwork, poetry, etc.
• On-Topic questions, concerns, opinions, essays, rants, etc.
• On-Topic event announcements (ie. drag shows, glbtq conventions and events, etc.), including meet-ups - but these MUST be posted as friends only.

On-topic means to be relevant to the birls community. Subjects such as gender, sexuality, gender presentation, gender confusion, etc. would be considered "on-topic". If you're confused about whether or not a topic is relevant, just go through our past posts and see what people are talking about!

What Not To Post:
• Negative, insulting, and/or abusive comments or entries directed towards other members of the community.
• Off-topic entries that are more suitable for your personal journal (this includes picture posts that just consist of landscapes, objects, or ONLY pets, selling concert/event tickets, telling us that you're allergic to cotton, etc).
• Surveys/quizzes/memes.
NO rating community advertisements! If you're going to promote your (NON-RATING) community, please make sure it relates to the birl population.
• Pleas solely created for people to talk to you online because you're bored (ie AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, etc).
• Posts created solely for the purpose of asking people to add you to their friendslist or Myspace (Click here for the Myspace Profile Thread).
• Pity posts - Don't put yourself down, call yourself ugly, etc.
No nudity! There are underage kids in the audience.
• Posts appearing to promote, condone, or endorse illegal or illicit behavior, including but not limited to underage drinking and other illegal drug use.

Guidelines:
• When posting images, please use the LJ-Cut tag when posting more than 1 picture.
• Images should be no larger than 600X600 pixels unless they are under an lj-cut.
• When posting images, stories, and/or experiences that revolve around potentially triggering subjects (ie images that all include obvious self-injury or topics that include the subject of rape and/or abuse) please include a warning before resuming with the LJ-Cut tag.

If you are found breaking any of the above rules or guidelines, you will be warned and your post/comment will be deleted. If you have to be warned more than once, you will be banned from the community!
