Big Ten Bands

I just booked a hotel room for Homecoming! This is significant because:

A) I'm paying $95 a night for 2 nights in a hotel room in a town where you get a large apartment for less than $500 a month. And that's with 10 months advance notice in the reservation! I think hotels in Big Ten towns make all of their annual income on football weekends. :D

B) I am now officially old enough to no longer know anyone who's still an active student on campus! So I'm staying in a hotel because I have no one to crash with anymore. Woot woot!

does anybody know where I can get a house-divided flag for Northwestern and Ohio State? I've searched all over the internet, and I can't find that combination...but I know they exist, because i've seen them! (a hat or welcome mat or something else of that nature would work too)

Big 10 Bands - The Practice Field

I just got my alumni newsletter. Interim AAMB Director Jay Gephart is bringing back run-on to the pregame show! (And the Slayter Center pep rally returns, too?) Hallelujah! I knew I liked that man.

What are you guys doing for fieldshows?
Who is travelling where?

It's been a sad, sad day for the Wildcats. As a NUMBalum, I'm wondering if anyone from the band will be attending Coach Walker's funeral or if the band will in someway be paying tribute to him.

They're a bit overpriced, but I still think they're fun to look at. The uniforms look pretty accurate, but I could be wrong. Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan State are the only Big Ten bands there.

Two things I noticed about the website:
1. Bill the Bandman apparently doesn't know how to spell "Sousaphone"
2. What college marching band (of the ones listed) actually marches with bassoons?

Sorry to waste everyone's precious livejournal space... I just thought one or two of you would get a chuckle out of figures of ourselves.

Band Season officially begins on Columbus, OH tonight! The first Ohio State summer sessions are tonight at 7pm. Practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday through the end of August.

I can't wait to see some of the Big Ten bands in the Horseshoe this year, I hear quite a few are making the trek to Columbus! Hope to see some of you in the fall.
