I'm not a beta, but was curious about the process so am skimming some of the posts here. I am, however, an academic and having to read, comment on, and help fix master's theses and dissertations…

Thank you! I'm not a pro and definitely needed a bit of guidance. Being aware of the creative prose aspect, I don't want to stifle character voice in respect to colloquial language and informality.…

A lot of the grammar rules that are taught in school (old and new) are 1) based rather dubiously on idea about symbolic logic and Latin that have little or nothing to do with effective English style…

I use the Adobe Buzzword program to edit, so I'm not writing color-coded comments within the author's text anymore. I highlight the error and it brings up a little bubble in the margin that allows me…
