Oh man, the first Trickster episode is on German TV and they totally killed the conjoined twins line. :(

*squeaks* It is! It's one of my most favorite lines ever.

And yes, they dub it over here. Most of the time it's just hilarious, sometimes it's sad.

It really was THAT bad? I don't know how they dubbed it in Spanish, although I'm not sure I want to -- I better stick with the original, it's one of the best lines EVER ♥

It was! :( You better stick with English indeed. The problem with German is that there is only one expression for Siamese/conjoined twins, unlike in English. So when they translated conjoined twins, they translated it literally and used an expression that no one would say over here. *sighs*

I don't really watch anything in a foreign language, but I do put on the Spanish or Portuguese closed captions ... and it's hilarious and a bit sad how much things are lost in tanslation!

I know, right? Sometimes the translations are just weak, but in the case of the conjoined twins line, it wasn't even the translators' fault. It's a language issue (German only has one term for conjoined twins). *sighs*

... how did they ruin it? I mean, yes, you say 'Siamesische Zwillinge', but, er... *is curious*

Dean said "Siamesische Zwillinge" and Sam bitched at him that one calls it "Verbundene Zwillinge", or something to that effect.

That's what irritated me. Political correctness is nice and all, but I've never heard whatever Sam had called it in German.
Sad thing is, I don't remember the original version of that line. heh.

But the translation of "they probed me" with "sie haben mich befummelt" was hilarious.

Yeah, that's the problem. Unlike English, German only has one term for conjoined twins so "verbundene Zwillinge" was totally far-fetched and made no sense at all.

I only watched parts of the episode (like the married couple part and the wrestling on the bed) so I missed the probed part. The translation sounds awesome though.

I'm now wondering how they could have translated that better while keeping the original meaning. *ponders*

... Verbundene Zwillinge? Auuuugh. *winces* Bad dubbing!

Original version:

DEAN: No, see, married couples can get divorced. Me and him? We’re like Siamese twins.

SAM: It’s conjoined twins.

DEAN: See what I mean? (from here)

But then again, the 'befummelt' thing is hilarious. *snickers*
